Waymond Jordan injury update: USC back to miss 4-6 weeks

USC starting running back Waymond Jordan will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks following an injury suffered against the Michigan Wolverines, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
That’s a huge hit to the Trojans’ ground game ahead of a ranked matchup at No. 13 Notre Dame this coming weekend. Four weeks off the field would see Jordan also miss a road trip to Nebraska and a Friday night home game against Northwestern. Six weeks would mean Jordan wouldn’t be available for a home game against Iowa or the tough road trip to No. 8 Oregon. Any longer than six weeks would put the entire regular season in jeopardy, with only the rivalry game against UCLA after the matchup against the Ducks.
Jordan has been outstanding to this point for the Trojans in his first year as a junior college transfer. He ranks No. 17 in the nation, averaging 96 rushing yards per game. His 6.55 yards-per-carry average ranks No. 6 among backs with at least 80 carries. He stayed down following a tackle and was clearly favoring his left ankle as he hopped off the field. He eventually got into a cart and was taken back to the locker room. Jordan made his way back onto the field in a walking boot and using crutches.
Jordan wasn’t the only running back USC lost for a significant stretch on Saturday night. Eli Sanders was also taken to the locker room and USC head coach Lincoln Riley said after the game that the initial belief is it could be a season-ending injury but they are waiting for confirmation.

That meant USC turned to walk-on redshirt freshman King Miller and second-year back Bryan Jackson to carry the load the rest of the way against Michigan. And those two will be front and center for the foreseeable future as well.
Miller has been a star for USC in spot duty. He’s averaging 10.7 yards per carry and is tied for third in the nation with four yards of 40+ runs.
