WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at USC Chief of Staff Brandon Sosna departing for the Detroit Lions, the Trojans making a visit to Fox Sports, and USC offering a class of 2023 offensive lineman.

Brandon Sosna to the Lions

USC’s Athletic Department suffered a major blow yesterday, with ESPN’s Pete Thamel reporting that Chief of Staff Brandon Sosna is leaving USC for the Detroit Lions. Sosna will reportedly serve as the Lions’ Senior Director of Football Administration.

As Athletic Director Mike Bohn’s right-hand man, Sosna played a vital role in the modernization of USC’s Athletic Department over the past two-and-a-half years. In particular, he was a driving force behind the hire of Lincoln Riley as USC’s next football coach.

In Detroit, Sosna will reunite with former USC wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. St. Brown played for the Trojans from 2018-2020, before being selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Visiting Fox Sports

On Thursday, numerous members of the USC Football team paid a visit to Fox Sports headquarters in Los Angeles. Hosting them there? None other than acclaimed sports media personality and self-proclaimed USC superfan Colin Cowherd.

Add yet another item to the list of, “things you can do in Los Angeles that you can’t do in Norman, Oklahoma”.

New OL Offer

Three-star class of 2023 offensive lineman Caleb Lomu recently visited USC. Yesterday, he walked away from his visit with a scholarship offer.

A native of Gilbert, Arizona, On3 Consensus ranks Lomu as the number 466 player and the number 35 offensive tackle in the class of 2023. Right now, Arizona is the clear leader in his recruitment. The Trojans are currently at the front of a handful of schools trying to make up ground on the Wildcats.
