Georgia Tech safety Khari Gee officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He started his career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

In 2023, as a redshirt sophomore, Gee made one appearance, recording one tackle against the Clemson Tigers. As a redshirt freshman in the 2022 campaign, he saw action in all 12 games, making two starts. He racked up six tackles overall, one tackle for loss, and 0.5 sacks. Gee also tallied a career-high of two stops in a thrilling overtime win against the Duke Blue Devils on Oct. 8th. In 2021 when he was with Notre Dame, he didn’t see any snaps as a true freshman.

During his high school career with Woodward Academy (Atlanta, Georgia), Gee recorded 37 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two interceptions during his final season. He also helped to guide Woodward Academy to the second round of the 5A state playoffs as a senior in 2020.

He was a three-star recruit from the Class of 2021 and was the No. 40 prospect in the state of Georgia, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Gee was also rated as the No. 462 overall player in the country.

When he committed to Notre Dame out of high school, he had a very impressive offer list: Clemson, LSU, Oregon, USC, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida State, Nebraska, Kentucky, Missouri, Virginia and several others.

Georgia Tech had a very surprising year in the 2023-2024 campaign. They finished with a 7-6 overall record, including a 5-3 record in the ACC. It was an impressive year, and they were led by the heroics of their quarterback, Haynes King, who was one of the better dual-threat quarterbacks in the country. King finished the season with a 61.6% completion percentage, throwing for 2,842 yards, while tossing in 27 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. As a runner, King also gashed opposing defenses for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

They also got an excellent season from running back Jamal Haynes, who finished with 1,059 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

One game in particular, will forever live in Yellow Jacket lore and college football immortality–the Miami game. The Hurricanes simply had to kneel the ball and run out the clock in the final seconds to win, but they made the baffling decision to run, fumbled, and Georgia Tech recovered.

The Yellow Jackets proceeded to march 74 yards in the final 26 seconds, thanks to a game-winning touchdown toss by Haynes King. He connected with Georgia Tech receiver Christian Leary on a 44-yard touchdown strike in the final seconds to lift the Yellow Jackets to the improbable comeback.
