Rutgers set to add former Texas A&M EDGE Jahzion Harris from transfer portal

Rutgers is set to add a transfer from Texas A&M.
Aggies EDGE transfer Jahzion Harris, who entered the NCAA transfer portal last week, is expected to transfer to the Scarlet Knights, sources tell On3.
Harris had expressed an intent to play closer to home upon entering his name into the portal. Now, the Staten Island, New York native is in position to do that. Rutgers is about an hour away from Harris’ hometown.
Harris was a Class of 2021 four-star recruit and was rated as the 21st-best EDGE and 207th-best overall prospect in the 2021 class according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He played in two games as a freshman last season and finished with four tackles and a sack.

Harris, who didn’t get into the portal prior to the May 1 deadline for immediate eligibility, will need a waiver in order to be eligible this season.
Rutgers is entering its third season under Greg Schiano. The Scarlet Knights, who finished last season 5-8, open their season against Boston College Sept. 3.
