Kentucky has reached out to Stanford transfer Andrej Stojakovic, per KSR’s Jacob Polacheck. He is the son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic.

In his lone season at Stanford, Stojakovic appeared in 32 games and made 10 starts. The 6-foot-7 guard averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9% from the field and 32.7% from beyond the arc.

Stojakovic finished sixth in scoring among true freshmen in the Pac-12 and second in made 3-pointers. His best game of the season came against USC when he exploded for 20 points and six assists while shooting 8-12 from the floor.

Andrej Stojakovic played high school basketball at Jesuit (CA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 24 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Kentucky looks to build roster under head coach Mark Pope

According to Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones, Stojakovic isn’t the only standout transfer the program is targeting in the portal.

“Kentucky is intentionally keeping the names of some of the transfer tortal guys quiet initially,” Jones wrote on X. “There are 6 names I know they have made contact with and seriously engaging…3 in ESPN Top 25 portal rankings and 6 in Top 60 Kentucky is also actively involved with two incoming freshmen.

“A couple of the names that are already out there (Javon Small and Amari Williams) are definite UK targets. But I think a lot of the other names I have seen are not Pope is contacting players but the next 24-48 hours are also about finalizing a staff.”

Kentucky has a lot of work to do. Since John Calipari accepted the offer to become Arkansas‘ next head coach, five Wildcats have entered the transfer portal and three have entered the draft. Further, four of Kentucky’s highly-touted prospects have re-opened their recruitment.

The only player who has not re-opened their recruitment since Kentucky hired Mark Pope is four-star Travis Perry. The program also received a commitment from former top-40 recruit Collin Chandler. Nonetheless, Kentucky’s roster is far from full.

During his introductory press conference on Sunday, Pope addressed how he plans to approach the program’s roster needs.

“We’re talking to all the guys on the current team, all the guys that have been recruited, and just about every single player in the portal right now,” Pope said. “We’re gonna find the guys that fit here the way we play, and the guys that will come here and understand what a gift it is to play here at the University of Kentucky.”
