Chubba Purdy, the former quarterback at Nebraska, originally committed to San José State out of the transfer portal. However, after a coaching change for the Spartans, he has flipped that commitment on Monday to Nevada.

Purdy shared the announcement of his new choice to join the Wolf Pack on Twitter this afternoon.

Purdy started his career at Florida State. He spent two seasons there before coming to Lincoln for the next two years of his collegiate career. He has made 16 appearances during his time between the two programs with five being starts.

In total, Purdy has completed 85-162 (52.5%) of his throws overall with the Seminoles and Cornhuskers. Those led to 846 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also, over his pair of seasons with Nebraska, rushed 53 times for 253 yards and three scores.

Purdy appeared in six games this past season, including starting the final two games for the ‘Huskers. In a pair of losses at Wisconsin and to Iowa, he went 30-52 (57.7%) overall for 358 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks while also rushing for 147 yards and an additional score.

Purdy played high school football at Perry (AZ) where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 211 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as the No. 15 QB in the class and the No. 7 player out of Arizona.

Purdy is the younger brother of QB Brock Purdy, the former Iowa State quarterback and current starter for the San Francisco 49ers.

Purdy originally committed to San José State under the leadership of Brent Brennan. Following his decision to take the head coaching job at Arizona, though, Purdy changed his mind to join on at Nevada to return to the west coast.

Purdy is the fifth addition in the portal for the program under Jeff Choate, the new head coach, this cycle. He joins on alongside CB Kitan Crawford (Texas), OT Tapuvae Amaama (Virginia), WR Dariyan Wiley (UL Monroe), and TE Andrew Savaiinaea (Florida).
