Villanova forward Lance Ware has entered the transfer portal for the second straight season.

Ware spent one season with ‘Nova after transferring in following three years at Kentucky.

Ware has appeared in 110 games in his career, 77 while in Lexington and 33 this past year in Pennsylvania. In his collegiate outings, he has averaged 1.6 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 55.3% from the field.

During his one season with Villanova, Ware averaged 1.2 points and 2.3 rebounds on a 48.3% field-goal rate in 10 minutes per game off the bench.

Ware played high school basketball at Camden in New Jersey. He was a four-star prospect there and the No. 39 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as the No. 4 PF in the class and the No. 3 player out of his state behind only Jonathan Kuminga (G-League Ignite, Golden State Warriors) and Jabri Abdur-Rahim (Virginia, Georgia).

Ware came to Kentucky as part of the No. 1 recruiting class per On3’s 2020 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He joined the program alongside a pair of five-stars in Brandon Boston (No. 6 overall, No. 3 SF) and Terrence Clarke (No. 8 overall, No. 1 SG). That class also included Isaiah Jackson, Cam’Ron Fletcher, and then Devin Askew, who also currently happens to be in the portal.

Ware is the second player from Villanova to enter the portal in this cycle. Trey Patterson entered earlier this week as well and has yet to choose a new program.

Devin Askew enters the transfer portal

Devin Askew will be playing for his fourth program after deciding to enter the transfer portal again on March 18th.

Askew, who played the past two seasons for Californiaelected to re-enter the portal upon its opening to start this week. That news comes per On3’s Jamie Shaw this afternoon.

Askew just finished his senior season with the Golden Bears in his second in Berkeley. He started his career in Lexington where he spent his freshman year at Kentucky before transferring to Austin and playing his sophomore year at Texas.

In 78 appearances with the three teams, Askew has averaged 6.1 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. He has shot 36.5% from the field and 28.1% from three in his career.

Of his four collegiate seasons, his junior year, Askew’s first with Cal, was on pace to be his best. He averaged career-highs in points (15.5) and assists (three) as the team’s leading scorer had he played enough games. However, his pair of seasons with California both ended early. A sports hernia surgery finished his last year and a foot injury closed this year for him.

Askew played high school basketball at Mater Dei in California where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 30 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle. That was according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as the No. 6 CG in the class and the No. 6 player out of the state.
