Wouldn’t need the tax break if Orange would have brought down those prices on everything on day one like he said. People are struggling because of him, war, tariffs.

This is lame maga framing Ned, we've discussed this. He voted against the BBB just like every Democratic Senator and House member did.
yea, but that's how it works...vote against one thing, you vote against everything in the bill. It's the after effect of these crazy "omnibus" bills...although in this case, the not tax things were an essential part of the bill.

Are you old enough to remember "I voted for the bill before i voted against it". Sounds kind of dumb, but in politics speak it has real meaning.

Sounds like you already understood before you posted that I would defend Ossoff, implying that he was an outlier. If you want to claim that he wants Georgia families to pay taxes on overtime because he was against the majority of this sh*t bill, then feel free but most of us are smart enough to see through that lame line of attack.

This is a classic Tiger Illustrated thread. TG puts up a bunch of blather from the right wing noise machine, and Ned ("Bins?") defends it.
what did I defend??? Did he or did he not vote against it? there's only 2 voting choices, "yes or no"...There isn't a block for "No, but..."

Of course, if he or anybody else who voted "no" could have submtted a "sense of the Senate" whereby they could have made their intentions known...

but you apparently believe Ossoff only voted against the BBB...but according to AI he has never publicly said he favored the tax breaks...."
    • Public Stance: Ossoff has not championed or co-sponsored proposals to exempt tips and overtime from federal income taxes.
So you apparently say/think he is not for the tax breaks...but he hasn't said that.

So in typical TI fashion, @dpic73 says something and @LafayetteBear (bins) defends it...

He posted a video of that paragon of honesty (Steve Scalise) accusing Ossoff of electing to keep the government shut because opening it would (for some inexplicable reason) prevent Ossoff from raising more campaign funds. That clip was not about HOW Ossoff voted. It was about Scalise speculating, without evidence, on Ossoff's reason for voting how he did. He also posted that Ossoff knew about Biden's decline and intentionally elected to remain silent about it because "Democrat power was more important than being truthful with the American people."

The other video rehashes MAGA noise machine complaints about Dems (and Ossoff in particular, in this case) covering up Biden's cognitive decline. First, Biden had more going on upstairs on the day he left office than Trump has had during this entire second term of his. ("I want Greenland!" "I'll pay you $50,000 to vote for Republicans this fall !") Second, it is pretty damn hypocritical, not to mention amusing, to see Republicans continuing to whine about Dems covering up Biden's cognitive decline when: (1) we are seeing a severe cognitive decline in Trump right now; and (2) Mitch McConnell remained either hospitalized or at home, incommunicado and declining to speak for himself, for something like 4 months, while his fellow Republicans waxed poetical about having long and substantive phone conversations with him. So who, again, cares more about power than being truthful?

You responded with a snarky comment about it not being long before Dpic weighed in with a defense of Ossoff. Not much need to defend Ossoff there. The videos speak for themselves, and they say a lot more about Republicans than they do about Democrats.

the title of the post was about Ossoff voting to have Georgians pay higher taxes on their overtime...I didn't watch the clip, I took the poster at the word of his headline...maybe that's on me or maybe it's on the guy who drafted the OP...

Now unless the media is lying, there was a story that quoted Ossoff as saying he knew about Biden's decline but didn't want to say anything because keeping the democrats in power was more important...

My comment wasn't snarky...of all the posters on the board, the single one most often mentioning Ossoff as a presidential candidate is @dpic73....now if there's another I certainly have missed it. Like you defending the post, dpic does the same for every negative on Ossoff...

Now insofar as Trump's cognitive decline, I won't comment about any potential "whataboutism" as I know you are totally against that, but you're somewhat speculating as to trump's mental capacity. Now, neither you nor I have any idea of trump's mental capabilities. Maybe the truth will come out in 2029 in a tell all book - in a fashion similar to Biden - but as of right now, other than Democrats who thinks trump is crazy because of his actions, there's no indication, in the manner of Biden, of being a loss for words or making up words, for the slow shuffle, the apparent inability to assimilate his location, and, in fact, the craziness that Trump displays now isn't different than the craziness of his first administration or how he conducted either of his campaigns. It seems as if he's always been this way.

Do we want to talk about McConnell when we just went through something similar with Feinstein?? Come on, thee people handg on to the last possible minute I don't like it, you don't like it, but it certainly is not limited to people in one party.

Now am I disappointed in Trump..absolutely, and I'm sure I'm not alone. He hasn't done what he promised, he lies consistently (but we knew that prior to this election) the Iran war is a black cloud over what should be a booming economy, he says stupid things and all this renaming stuff is as dumb as taking down a bunch of statues. But let's face it, you'd have negative comments about trump no matter what he said or did. It's in your DNA....

We could use a lot more Ossoff's in this world.

Ossoff: "My office is known for world-class service. And what amazes me is how surprised people are to be treated well.

Nancy Lancy's 81 years old in Jesup. Her husband died after years of dementia. She was worn out and alone, and now her affairs as a widow were all wrapped up in this bureaucratic labyrinth, from the VA to the IRS and Social Security. So we took care of things for her. And I'll never forget what she said about it. She said, "This was a new experience, to have someone caring about me."

How has it come to pass that for so many Americans, the experience of genuine care is rare and surprising?"

Like I said, you don't care unless it's a problem for you and your family, personally.
Im looking at the current stats. The economy is good. Highest incomes ever and lowest poverty ever. All you haters have is the price of gas. More Americans employed and much less illegals employed. Less government employees. Not perfect but much better than the Biden debacle.

Just so you understand the national average of about $4.48 a gallon is equivalent to roughly $2.94 in July 2008 dollars. It's not as big of a deal as people want you to believe. Sure, it sucks, but its not causing foreclosures like it did in the great recession. People are still using doordash. There has been little to no demand destruction of gasoline usage in the USA.

Vehicle miles travels continue to rise.

If the price of gasoline was really the problem the doomers want you to believe it is, you would be seeing demand destruction and people staying home. You would be seeing companies like door dash go out of business or inflation skyrocket.

It's not happening.
