Got back home about 1:30 am and immediately went to bed.
1) The crowd was unbelievable and the energy was there all night. The LED lights are a really great addition to bring everything up a notch.
2) The PA and sound overall is still dog shìt. I could not hear anything being said by the refs and the videos are all muffled. It may be better in certain parts of the stadium but we sit in section 5 and you couldn’t hear anything.
3) Fluff Bothwell is an absolute beast and deserves all the praise. I would love to know his yards after contact from last night. Just running over people on every play.
4) The left side of the O line is an adventure and not the fun kind.
5) I thought Mizzou did a great job on defense…. unless they went man. They got roasted every time on man coverage. It’s unreal the speed State has at wide receiver. Also Evans’ catch in the 4th quarter might be one of the best catches ever at DWS.
6) Didn’t get a stadium cup so can’t report if they stunk**
7) For the amount of people there I felt like we were able to get out of town pretty fast. Maybe it was different for others but I felt like it was pretty good.
8) The cowbell record was probably a legit number. There were so many bells there tonight and I’m glad I brought some ear plugs because it was incredibly loud. Also on that note…it’s like we’ve got to learn all over again when to ring and when not too. I know the crowd was excited with the lead but on that last possession trying to burn clock, ringing as loud as possible on every snap when the offense is trying to work is not when to ring your bell.
9) K1 doesn’t have that internal clock yet but it also doesn’t help that the previously mentioned left side can be a turnstile. The first TD pass was a thing of beauty. I really wasn’t sure it was ever going to come down because it felt like an eternity from the time he threw it. The end of half debacle was on Lebby for a run play with no timeouts but then the next play K1 has to know to throw that ball out of bounds to save the clock. They’re both still learning and not coming away with points there was criminal.
10) Just kick the ball on kickoffs as hard and far as possible. Don’t do the goal line kick and give them an opportunity to return.
One last thing: The amount of time it takes to play a college football game is just silly and of course that should be shouldered by the TV networks. I wish college football had the ability to have a little say so like the NFL does with TV because they have it down to a science. NFL games last just a hair over 3 hours every single time (unless there’s overtime). The amount of commercial breaks or at least the length of commercial breaks is really ridiculous. I think the game last night was almost 4 hours from kickoff til the final.
