Dave Aranda fired at Baylor. He was 4-3 (2-2) this season and 40-40 (26-32) at Baylor, including a conference championship and a Sugar Bowl win.

Mike Norvell was fired at Florida State. He was 3-5 (1-4) this season and 41-39 (23-30) at FSU, including a conference championship and a 13-win season.

Mike Locksley was fired at Maryland. He was 2-5 (0-4) this season and 39-54 (17-52) at Maryland and won three bowl games.

Dave Doeren was fired at NC State. He was 3-4 (1-3) this season and 98-73 (52-57) at NC State and made 11 straight bowl games.

Phil Longo was fired at Sam Houston. He was 1-7 (0-4) this season and 3-17 (1-11) at SHSU.

Lebby is 11-22 (3-19). Are we happy with being better than Longo at SHSU? Because the other four that were fired have a much better resume than Lebby.

No one in their right mid thinks we can land Saban, Smart or Kiffin. But there is no reason that Mississippi State cannot be a 6-6/7-5 team with an occasional 8-4/9-3 season and once a decade push for 10 wins. We've done it before.

But go through the Power 4 minus the four coaches that have been fired and tell me a coach you wouldn't take over Lebby. I don't think you could find five.

Fitzgerald at Michigan State and Odom at Purdue (current school winning percentage) are the only two that have a worse winning percentage than Lebby, who is tied with Lupoi at Cal for third worst in P4 (and 18th in FBS.

Think about this. If Lebby finished 1-3 this season, he will have a 30.7% winning percentage in three seasons at State. Croom was 33.3% and Felker was 38.2%.

The worst coach in the SEC since 1970 that coached three or more seasons was John Ray at Kentucky at 23% followed by Shira at State who was 27%. Orgeron at Ole Miss was 28.6%. Great company.

Tommy O'Boyle's SEC record at Tulane going 6-33-1 (.163) and causing Tulane to leave the SEC seems to be safe. Lebby would have to lose 35 straight to get there.
