I'm sure there's another mock draft out there where you will find a couple in the first round. It doesn't matter anyway because they will get bad info from someone and jump. Lets hope they make their own decisions and the right decision

Don't care. I'm getting into the "really don't care" zone right now with Kentucky basketball. I'm not giving up on this team, but I couldn't care less about next years draft; or this years. I just want to see some consistent defense and a shot or two fall. I'm not asking for a miracle anymore, my optimism has failed me. Just show me some sense of urgency, hustle, and desire. That's all.

None of them should be. All of them need to come back.

What will be really interesting to see is if Cal let’s them all come back.

Definitely not what I expected from reading the title. I thought it was going to be for the upcoming draft

So did the OP (@TNCatfanforever) , but much like a lot of people on here, he just wanted to skim the article for information he could use to fit his narrative and didn't actually pay attention to the content to determine he's over a year off. Some people are just morons like that.

Here you go, nbadraft.net still has 4 in the first round.

http://www.nbadraft.net/2018mock_draft

I think this is about right, though I see Diallo slipping further down the list. He is not helping his stock with his recent play. I think he slips into the 2nd round.

I think those four leave.

That leaves us Green, Quickley, Baker, Herro, Johnson, Washington, Gabriel, Killeya-Jones, Wynyard, and Richards. Add in 1-2 more guys and our roster is complete. Hopefully we add a Montgomery or Wiseman.

Full disclosure...non-UK fan here.

Honest question... Why would this be a bad thing for UK? Isn't the OAD model based on the assumption a number of players will leave each year? I'm guessing (correct me if I'm wrong) there are no open scholarships, so don't you need some players to leave to make room for the next class? Most schools do this largely via graduation, but wouldn't UK need to accomplish the same mostly through the draft?

I'm just trying to understand why Kentucky fans worry about this. Don't McD AA's want to see a steady stream of freshmen leaving UK for the draft each year?

According to Sports illustrated as of today, Knox is #9, which has stayed pretty consistent since pre-season. SGA has dropped back to #19, which is still a good spot for him, but also leaves open the chance he moves up or down still. If he moves down I think we stand a great chance of getting him back. Diallo is coming in at 28, which is about on par with where he was last year. I don't think he comes back regardless. I think Knox is gone as well, as being the 9th pick is pretty damn good and he likely will never get much higher.

Hopefully SGA decides to stay, but even if not, at worst we lose these 3 and Tai transfer. I think that would leave us a very solid team next year.

Most think “one and dones” have ruined basketball, when it’s actually the term “potential “ that has “ruined it”.

my drill Sargent in the Army told me I had "potential". Not sure what for. But boy I felt good

Knox and diallo I expect to leave. If UK returns Green, Richards, Washington, Gabriel, and SKJ that would be a solid veteran core but we would still need another guard, grabbing a transfer would fill that void.

I don't see how anyone, based on their play so far, would be considered a 1st round pick. UK has some really talented freshman, just not at the level of of some of Cal's previous guys. Don't think anybody in the country has guys like some of Cal's earlier frosh.

What coach said "potential" meant hasn't done anything yet? Not you of course but the other guys. [cheers]

Love the cats but none of the guys on this years tesm are even remotely ready for the NBA. Regardless of “potential” i guess being very athletic ensures a spot in the NBA these days?

If Knox is picked in the top 10 this is a very down year. Call it bashing or whatever. No motor equals low draft pick, or at least it should.

Agreed. Knox playing on ANY other team sans maybe duke would definitely not be a top 10 pick.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s very good... but top 10 ready to play on an nba team good? I dunno, i just don’t see it

Yep. NBA teams don’t care. They take a “flyer” on “potential” and if the player flames out in a year or two — they just dump them and find someone else to replace them.

I never understood this saying (not being combative) i mean i get it to an extent but what does that even mean? How can someone be mariginal/ slightly above average in college but be “really good” in the NBA?
Floor spacing and defense.
Most of our teams aren't great 3 point shooting teams. We have had really good shooters most years, but as a team we aren't usually that great. So most teams pack the lane and play zone or a junk D against us and focus in on our best shooters/scorers. Most teams that play man against us lose.
In the NBA it's pretty much all Man and the lane is a lot more open for attacking. Guys aren't doubled and triple teamed like in college and can have way more success.
It's not necessarily that his game will be that much better next year, but he will have way more opportunity to showcase his skill there because the defense will be more pliable for him to do so.

So, when multiple people comment about an article, without ever even clicking on the article in the first place to find out what it actually says, what would you call that? What would you call the retard (@TNCatfanforever) that posted it in the first place?

Looking before they leap. I'm not saying it wasn't dumb. Just saying we all do stupid things.
