  • Last year, with 24 total mater plants (4 cherry), I was bringing in 30-40 tomatoes every day; and frequently that many cherries also. Gave a lot to family, neighbors, and some co-workers. And we froze 18 gallon bags, which have been all over our spaghetti, pizza, and various other Italian dishes since the end of growing season last fall.

I went really heavy on the peppers this year. I finally got a chance to grow some non traditional peppers from seed so I went a little crazy. I’m definitely doing at least 4 tomato plants but I might do more
Hey Dawg. Good luck with your maters. One thing I have learned to do for strong roots is to bury at least half of the plant in the ground when planting. I also have a layer of mulch (maybe two inches) covering each bed: helps hold the moisture in and reduces water requirements.

That actually makes some sense. I worked on a farm over the winter and learned a ton there. But I’m actually going to try your trick with burying the plant
