When you are as hot as name as he was even last year no it doesn’t. You act like ga tech is podunk u. He was oc of the year and was already interviewing for g5 schools 2 years ago.
also look at Garrett Riley. That move don’t always pan out. He set his career way back going to Clemson.
Again, just refusing to use the actual data that exists. Lemme help.
2026...I already listed the two. Stein came from Oregon and Klein came from aTm.
2025...None
2024...Duke hired Manny Diaz from Penn St. Mississippi St hired Jeff Lebby from OU. Duke hired Mike Elcko from aTm. Cuse hired Fran Brown from UGA. Arizona St hired Kenny Dillingham from Oregon. BC hired Bill O'Brien from tOSU/Patriots.
2023...Purdue hired Ryan Walters from Illinois.
2022...Oklahoma hired Venables from Clemson. UVA hired Tony Elliot from Clemson. VA Tech hired Brent Pry from Penn St.
I could have a couple mixed up from the hiring cycle years, but you get the point. Out of those hires, Walters from Illinois to Purdue is about the only one that's a GA Tech comp. All the rest come from rich programs with great success, especially at the time of the hires. What's my point? Same as it always has been. Being a successful OC at Florida gives Faulkner a much better chance at a good head coaching job than does had he stayed at GA Tech. It's hard to imagine someone not understanding that. Places that hire assistants as HCs at the P4/5 level don't hire them from programs on par with themselves. They go pluck them from the better/most successful programs.
