isn't it against the law to employ illegal migrants?
TPS recipients are not considered illegal immigrants while they hold active status, which means they possess a lawful, government recognized temporary immigration status that protects them from deportation and grants them authorization to work and travel.
I understand what temporary means but that status shouldn't be removed when their home country is engaged in a civil war and being run by murderous gangs but that's what Trump did because he's cruel and inhumane.
A story came out last week about a 20 year old Haitian working in Springfield who was fitted with an ankle monitor while he awaited deportation and he committed suicide because he couldn't bear the humiliation and knowledge that he would be sent back to a country that has a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory, which is the highest level of warning issued.
We used to be better than that.
"Burial service held for 20-year-old Haitian student who took his life in Springfield, his family says it happened after he was fitted with an ICE ankle monitor.
Hundreds gathered Saturday in Springfield, Ohio, for the funeral of Pierre Damas Bel, 20.
The Haitian immigrant and Wright State freshman was struck and killed Aug. 31 after he parked on the shoulder of I-70 westbound and walked into traffic.
After Haitian temporary protected status ended, ICE fitted him with a GPS ankle monitor. His father said Bel felt humiliated, told him classmates called him a criminal, and called that morning saying he was not okay because of the bullying.
Service was at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. Family, friends, and officials attended."
