1 week to prepare

We’ve had a week to prepare for Florida. I went back and took a quick glance at how we performed last year with seven days to prepare against P4 opponents:

Loss against Ohio State - maybe the worst performance of the season

Loss @ Vandy

I don’t expect to win this game, but really hoping the time to prep is an advantage for us. A loss here is not a killer, but a win would actually confirm that we have potentially flipped a switch to being a good (not great) team.

I think you have to have a great team to go into Florida and take one. I don't expect we will win this one, but you never know. I'm hoping we are in the game and have a chance, I would be real happy with that.

I see it as a great opportunity. Honest assessment, in this spot, most likely outcome is a 10-12 point loss. A win here would be amazing for this squad. Funny thing, so many folks have destroyed this team weekly, but it has become one of my favorites. Less talented but more heart than just about any squad we have had in a while

Some people really hate the “I” word, but I’m going to give a trigger warning: Pope has navigated the insane waters of woeful injuries better than anyone could reasonably expect. Even with a loss on Saturday, a strong finish to this season puts him in the conversation for SEC Coach of the Year. Unreal considering how bad things were a few weeks ago.

They've already confirmed the switch to being a good team. They're in the Top 25, too.

In these types of games you really never know. There’s a lot of emotion involved, you’ve got the Aberdeen connection, the team is playing together, and nobody has broke out yet which I’m expecting (Chandler) to have a 35 point breakout at some point.

Pope is going to really, really want to win this game too. He’s probably going to throw some different things in there to a degree.

Gut tells me small blowout. We still are what we are end of the day. But you can’t always look to paper in games like this.

State finals my senior year in football we were going up against a team who had 7 guys going D1. We had 2 going to small programs like Murray and Martin. We lost on a last second field goal. The emotion involved was enormous. You can’t always go by paper in games like this.

I feel the same about this team, and Pope. It has been fun watching them come together as a team. And Pope deserves a lot of credit for overcoming the rough start, and where we are now. Were probably the best injured up team in the country 😂

Pope can, and does, prepare for every team in less than 5 minutes.

We will come out against Fl like we have never seen them play.

I’m more prepared than Pope will be and I haven’t watched one minute of Fl

They have surprised a lot of people with the last 9 games. At Florida is a tough spot, but if they they were to mess around and win this game, things could get really interesting real quick. It would be amazing to see this club fight back and make a run in March, and equally fun seeing 75% of this board eat enough Crow to feed King Kong

Reminds me of another Mark who used to coach a football program.

Kentucky should take a page out of Auburn's playbook and beat the Gators the same way.

Plenty of time to look that tape over and see how they hung on to beat the Gators.

That at least would be a good start and a good gameplan to go in with....

Less than a week ago, a putrid 1 SEC win Oklahoma team went to Nashville ... was up 15 at halftime and held on to beat Vandy. There's a reason you always play the games ... because you just never know. The better team on paper does not always win.

The week to prepare thing is always overblown. Team could have had a great week of practice and still not be good enough to beat Florida tomorrow.

I love Pope but he has not shown to be a great game planner or motivator, unlike the coach he played for, who was the best at both. I want us to beat their butts but not sure that’s going to happen.

I didn’t give us a chance against Arkansas and fully expected a beatdown. Feel the same against Florida.
That’s how I felt about the Arky game. I have FL winning by 8 in the @OldRed contest. Hopefully I’m wrong again and the Cats pull another upset. Fingers crossed.

We probably won't win but most didn't think we'd win at Arkansas, including me. I really feel the Arkansas game is the most pressure packed game we had this season, especially after the Arkansas game at home last year.

The lesson I've learned this year in the last few weeks is to just enjoy it. This team has shown we can win big games, lose games in a bad fashion and win some exciting games.
