Then we **** and fell back in it by losing 3 of our last 4 games but it was fun while it lasted.
Don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of seeing the 1 by our name during a game for the first time and we were playing in the 2:30 CBS game against Kentucky, of all people. And not even a good Kentucky team.
I feel like we had Verne and Gary calling our games that year almost more than we did the rest of the SEC on CBS era combined.

Kinda glad that didn’t pan out actually, because that semi-final game would give me a widowmaker heart attack either way. We could have gone on to win the national title and I would have still never seen it.
We should’ve beaten Kentucky and Florida and been in an NY6 bowl. But I don’t think we were ever winning the West or anything like that. 2018 Bama was on another level from the rest of the SEC. Conservatively I’ll say that team should’ve gone 10-2. I don’t think we were ever winning in Tuscaloosa, and LSU on the road was iffy as well.
Mullen crapped the bed at BAMA then started job hunting.
