Speaking of Texas A&M. Lose your coach to a team that's #1 and #2 ranked. Then miss the tournament after being preseason #1.

Yikes.
as of note. aTm let their players pressure them into hiring Schloss's assistant at aTm as their head coach by threatening to all hit the portal if they didn't give him the job last year

I think if selmon botches this one, there will be a lot of the fanbase who will be done with him for good. For that reason I am cautiously optimistic. He has to understand how important this hire is.
This is why salmon is working on finding donations for towels for the football team's practice facility. He's got Parker negotiated to head coach.

I love and respect all you guys with the in-sight! But … how do you know he is in Destin? How do you know Rosy if full of ****? How do we know O’Connor is letting this play out for his team? Or that Selmon is letting folks decide this for him?? Do any of you guys know anything???? I mean I love reading it, and I know some of you know some things … but come on!! If ANYTHING we can all agree on this … next M17R that gets this job, dude better be ready to go balls out and take over what he knows he is getting into!! And WIN!!!!!!!! Edit … Bruce if you correct me, I will apologize lol!

Why do you want a coach that didn't make the tournament out of the ACC? We want the coach that was first in the ACC. I really don't get y'all.
1. It's not his fault. The entire series at Florida State was canceled, and even if they win just 1/3, their RPI improves enough that they probably make it in. Or even if they get swept they may nudge the RPI enough to make it, since they just barely missed.

2. They went 16-11 in the ACC. A record like that in the ACC has never missed a Regional in the 64-team era, but the ACC's reputation isn't quite what it once was.

3. Their RPI was really bad due to a soft non-conference schedule. Presumably not his fault, unless he was scheduling the games personally. His AD really let him down.

4. Even if all of the above weren't true, he still has had a hell of a career at UVA (7 trips to Omaha including a title). Baseball is a weird game and sometimes you just have a down year when the sample size is so small.

Anyway, the coach who "was first in the ACC" this year is retiring, so that's a no-go. O'Connor is clearly the best coach in the ACC over the last 20 with no sign of slowing down.

Oh and I can’t recall … who on here said they asked Lemonis about when he was hired, if GOAT was part of the deal?? I read that recently. I have met and talked to Lemon a few times … I would have not, nor didnt ask him, ANYTHING about his assistants or their situation. Some of you guys just lie about ****! And if you did …. Shame on you ***!!

Track record. I've been wanting him last two years.

Except for this year.

I don't follow college baseball overall enough to say who the best coach is so I am not really shiteing on O'Connor or promoting any other coach. I just had read an article on the tournament bracket and Virginia was listed as one of the First Out teams. So I thought it funny how now we wanted a guy that had a worst team than we did this year.

So yes he has a great resume, but maybe this current form of NIL / transfer college baseball is a problem for this guy. Maybe he's burnt out? It happens.

My counter to that is he has been to the CWS 3 out of the past 4 season (21, 23, 24). I think he's fine. From reading other information, UVA is not supporting baseball to the level he wants and that's why there is alleged interest.

You mean the guy with 7 CWS appearances and a national championship? The one whose school cut his programs funding so he couldn't get players this year?
I doubt he's going to be the next coach anyway.

If we hire him it is a home run. Seriously, tell me who is a better hire??
Have we ever had a home run coaching hire? I mean a few hires in my lifetime have turned out pretty good but I don’t recall us ever hiring someone who was immediately thought of as a home run.

Well, Cohen was. Hiring a sitting HC who won an SEC title at 17ing Kentucky was pretty massive. And, it paid off big time, as he’s the one who built all of the 2013 team and did the vast majority of recruiting for the 2021 team, even though he didn’t stick around long enough to see them on campus.

It may not have been viewed as this elite hire though, just because of him being an alum and it being kind of a common sense thing to try before anything else for Byrne.

The next coach will be Fitz at Kansas if I had to bet.....doesnt sound like O'Connor is going to leave UVA.....they are again putting on the full court press to keep him.
