Although I’m a Swain fan, I can tell you that #7 is far too high of a ranking for this year’s team.
I think Robbinsville should have jumped Murphy and Mitchell ahead of Holmes.
Not sure Swain is top 10 either.

It's amazing how far Thomas Jefferson and MIC have came so quickly.
Robbinsville should at least be top 3 and maybe #1.
I'd have 11-14 ahead of Rosewood and Princeton too.
No disrespect to the east, but after Tarboro and Holmes there isn't anyone that can hang with those top 10-12 western teams.

No way should Robbinsville be ranked above East Surry or Tarboro...maybe Murphy, but they do have a college level player. I think this was sarcasm or maybe looking for bulletin board material for your team. Murphy, Robbinsville, or any other legit program doesn't need bulletin board material for motivation...they have coaches and kids that have a eye on the prize just because.
Why shouldnt Robbinsville be ranked above East Surry? J Boaz, S Gosnell, Washington, Stevens, Mosely, etc. are gone. They still have a good team and a D1 player in the younger Gosnell but they are not close to the team they had last year talent wise.
I would have Tarboro #1, Robbinsville 2nd and East Surry 3rd right now.
I think East Surry is #1 until someone knocks them off. Idk how good North Davidson is this year but I'd say that's a good victory.

Until I see Tarboro actually have a down season they get the benefit of the doubt from me, they have been championship caliber every year in 1A. The have a pipeline of talent no other 1A school can match, it's reload mode.
East Surry on the other hand doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me yet after two great seasons, especially when almost all the skill players from that run are gone. Now if East Surry takes care of Reidsville again this week I have no qualms with them being #1.

Doesn't matter anyway....rankings are subjective and an opinion at best. Worth nothing at this point. Legit teams will rise to the top when the time comes. My simple point was regarding bulletin board material.
We will find out more about East Surry this week. North Davidson didnt look very good on film (not a shot a ES!), but that could've very well been East causing that. Also, we should learn more about Mitchell this week, going on the road against an established rushing attack in Smoky Mountain. While I don't think that the mustangs are world beaters, they are sound, and if Mitchell wins again, it will be more of an indication of whether the mountaineers are good, or last weeks win was a fluke.
Ncpreps isnt going put Robbinsville ahead of Murphy until Robbinsville beats Murphy on the field. Robbinsville has been to 3 of the last 6 state title games and was ranked below Murphy every one of those years. I think NCpreps had Robbinsville below Murphy even after Rville beat Murphy in the regular season in 14 or 15.
I think Caroline preps had us 18th one year we won state. Point is it doesn't matter about these early rankings.

I think you can base a lot on that game. North Davidson is a very good program and always in the mix in 2AA. East Surry lost a lot and managed to beat them on the road in a slop fest. If anything, it confirms what everyone already knows: East Surry is very good again.
