thought I would give all you good posters something to talk about ...its just a guess so don't call names or jump down my throat....

1 MW-E Mont vs 8W Starmount
4W-Swain Co vs MW5 North Moore

2W East Wilkes vs MW7 Walkertown
3MW West Mont vs W6 PL Prep

1W Mitchell Co vs MW8 Whiteville
4MW East Surry vs W5 Cherryville

2MW MA. Vs. W7 Avery Co
3W Bess City. Vs MW6 North Stanly

**Used last years teams b/c I do not have the new ADMs...placed EM as a 1 due to one more win than WM..its all for fun so don't lose it...Starmount could really use one more win this year

updated it..this may change as ADM's are different and a couple teams that made it last year may not...but it's a start

Its just as good as any other. Well done. I'm horrible at putting these things together but I like looking at them and looking at the possibilities.

Isn't the format like this? That way if the top seeds win it will be W vs MW in round two, and again W vs MW in round three (assuming the top seeds win again)? I've seen different formats this year.

1 MW-E Mont vs 8W Starmount
4W-Swain Co vs MW5 North Moore

2W-East Wilkes vs MW7 Walkertown
3MW- West Mont vs W6 PL Prep


1W-Mitchell Co vs MW8 Whiteville
4MW-ES vs W5 Cherryville

Would Avery be ranked higher because they are the top 1-AA team in their conference? Are they the only 1-A team in that conference?

I believe it is just Mitchell and Avery that are 1A in that conference. Avery is currently 5th in the conference so they would be a wild card in the playoffs, I believe.

Yes. Mitchell and avery are the only 1A teams in the WHC, but very soon Polk will join them. Their ADM numbers are dropping.

Yes, Avery and Mitchell are the only 1A teams in the WHC. Avery will likely end up 5th in the conference. I'm predicting we will win 1 more game this year (This Friday against Madison). Nearly impossible that we win against Mountain Heritage or Mitchell.

I'm not entirely sure that's how the new format will work. I would like it to be how footballstar17 laid it out in his projections, because that would mean less area matchups in the early going, but if I read the news release earlier this year from the NCHSAA correctly, I think that the format is going to be as bareman has it

looking back West Columbus and South Robeson were in last year...zero wins this year for both

Here is a template from NCHSAA, so I think it will be like I posted earlier. I know someone else also posted the format (like I posted) earlier this year. Here is the seeding section from NCHSAA:

Seeding:
(a) Once the qualifying teams are determined, they will be divided into four (4) groups, (i.e. East, Mideast, Midwest, West) based upon the longitude of each school.
(b) Seed all first place, regular season conference champions by 10-game winning percentage (10-game, football; All games, Tennis, Wrestling & Lacrosse) followed by;
(c) Conference tournament champions by 22-game winning percentage (10-game, football; All games, Tennis, Wrestling & Lacrosse), followed by;
(d) All other qualifying teams by 22-game winning percentage (10-game, football; All games, Tennis, Wrestling & Lacrosse)
(1) All ties for seeding in (a), (b) or (c) will be broken by:
(i) All Head-to-Head Competition Note: The non-conference game(s) that are dropped for seeding purposes may still be used in breaking a tie. Note: All teams involved in the tie must have played each other.
(ii) 24-game record (11-game, Football; All games, Tennis, Wrestling and Lacrosse) (iii) MaxPreps Ranking (last available ranking at the time of the seeding)
(iv) Draw

So if I understand correctly, they get the qualifying teams. Split them between A and AA. Then split them by region (west, midwest, mideast, east) and then finally rank them between 1-8 for each region. Then it will be just like this:​
1 MW vs 8W
4W vs MW5

2W vs MW7
3MW vs W6


1W vs MW8
4MW vs W5

2MW vs W7
3W vs MW6

I have made changes using template football star posted...some good 2nd rd matchups possible (sorry didn't see MBD's ...my bad...plus I kept Mitchell in)

I think it is unlikely that Whiteville will be a #8 seed since they have a good chance of being the #1 1A seed from the Three Rivers. They could be a #5 IF four other 1A conference #1s end up in the 1A Midwest and have better overall record or equal record and win draw. That is of course IF they end up in Midwest and not Mideast where same scenario could occur. With 16 1A conferences it is very possible one of the 4 regions could end up with 5 #1s. That would put a number one on the road in round one. Possibly against another number one since the geographical split does not guarantee an equal number of #1s in East and West. I believe this to be possible, but certainly could be mistaken.

With forfeits, 1 win teams and the uncertainty of ADMs the NCHSAA will have to seriously consider the viability of 16 teams in the East and West in two 1A classifications. The first round for the most part is a cakewalk. Maybe time to drop a few. 8 from the West and 8 from the East if they want to keep two classifications. Make the playoffs mean something again. Too many teams involved just to see the same faces at the table year after year.
