Why do some posters HAVE to support, argue and justify EVERY single decision made by the someone within the athletic department (AD, coach, UKAA, etc)?

There is a difference in supporting the school and the programs, and blind faith homerism on every topic.
Because the feel the world owes them something.

There's no music that's popular with everyone, and I'm totally on board with the music genre being spread across all ages, gender and race. What I'm not Ok with is the cheesy pop crap that gets NO ONE hyped.

The tempo needs to be upbeat and very energetic. To music guys like myself the musical ineptitude at Commonwealth is excruciating. I accept that I won't like every song and a lot of our fans from all walks need to do so as well. The music should first and foremost be something that is rowdy, exciting, and gets both the fans jacked up and the players as well. Bay City Rollers and Florida Georgia Line do not cut the mustard.

I wasn't sure. I'm an out of state-er I'm getting to attend my first game this coming week since I was a student before the renovations. Wish the product was better but still pretty excited to see the new digs.

Yeah, I'm sure they do it better than we do though. Ours is pretty boring, but still cool. They disappoint me with the ribbon boards every year too. We're always told they're going to start using them to show more scores and stats before the season (and for some reason, I always believe them), but they just continue to use them for ads and nothing else.

Hope you enjoy the game. We'll be there hoping for a win as well. The stadium (and especially the training facility) look great! Hopefully the team catches up soon.

The band plays many times throughout the game. But rap and rock are what these kids listen to. And like it or not, this is their time. They should play the music that appeals to the student athletes. That is one of the many problems with our program. Too many involved that think it is about them. It is about the players on the field, not you or anyone else who doesn't like the music. Play what the kids want to ear. Whatever keeps them excited, play it as long as it still promotes a positive atmosphere.
Maybe that's the problem, the players need to be concentrating for 4 hours but they're being distracted by beats! I was watching a game the other day, don't remember the teams, and a kickoff return guy was in the end zone juking around to the sound of the music before the kick (his team was down about 35 btw), and he promptly fumbled the reception. Too loosey goosey I guess. I mean it's a football game not a Jay Z concert.

I agree but I think that's most programs. When I was on my visit to Auburn last week I sat beside a gentleman in his 50s and the first words out of his mouth were "what is this crap? Can't they find any better music to play than that?" And then in the 3rd quarter after a big stop on 3rd down he was yelling at the college kids in front of him to sit down and then physically grabbed one and told him to sit down so he could see. Seems like that crap is everywhere.

It's about energy. It keeps their energy up.

I have seen folks that are 50 and over stand the entire game at many different stadiums; while I watched the majority of the student section stumble out at half time.
I reserve the right to question why "music" is hammered through the PA system, performed by bad actors whose "names" are not suitable to be mentioned in this forum.

I have no idea why you felt it was necessary to post that. The language was incredibly offensive. Do you have children with internet access? Are you a parent that would want your child viewing that video?

Offend easily?? I didn't say "all old people suck". I stated the approximate age of a single case that I witnessed first hand that echoed common complaints about Commonwealth. It's people of all ages thinking the entire game experience is about them instead of the collective and primarily the college student since it is "college athletics". Yes they build boxes and high dollar seats for donors but it's still a game revolving around 18-30 year olds because they are who influence the market and pop culture. If someone expects it to suit their every desire and preference then they should stay home and watch it on their big screen and customize their ideal experience.

Sounds plausible, but wouldn't it also keep the energy up of the opponent? [winking]
I'm sure it does. But really that doesn't matter. The kids want it to pump them up. It is their time so they should play the music they want.

i think we should try to use bizzaro music. we've tried rap, rock, country, pop, everything. so why not play some Chopin, Beethoven, then move to some Joplin, and then when we got on the ropes we start playing old wwf wrestler themes. If nothing else they'd be doing a sports center piece on us. and we all know, any pub is good pub
Best idea in this thread. Every 3rd down just blast some Klezmer tunes. Mix some Black Moth Super Rainbow in with some Baroque jams. Change the fight song to "Push the Little Daisies" by Ween and have cloggers dance to it. Also pass out LSD to all fans.
