I'm actually kind of excited. I'm anxious to see if they have made any improvements or if its more of the same. I mean it's the coaches second season and what did we really expect last year ? Seems like he realizes a lot of changes needed to be made. Hopefully they will look like the beginnings of a real team. But obviously we have about a 97% sad sack fan base so there is that. Positivity is unheard of. Surely it can't be any worse that last years garbage

I have to wonder if there is anything - ANYTHING at all - Selmon or this team could do to impress its doubters. I have to wonder of Selmon could have a kid who has cancer who is a lifelong Bulldog fan and give him the honor of a lifetime if some of our fans would even stand up and clap. I bet most of them would just sit in their chairs and not even clap for a kid with cancer. Then call Selmon "Literally Hitler"

I’m not usually a negative person. I tend to be the person who gets let down by state each year. With that said, I’m 100% negative on this upcoming season. The *** kicking that Toledo gave us last year gave me pretty much the same feeling I had after Joe lost to Mullen against Florida. Sometimes it’s hard to know if you made the right or wrong coaching hire. Sometimes it’s painfully obvious real early on. Unfortunately for state, we have made 3 hires where it was painfully obvious very early on (joe, arnett and lebby). It’s gonna be a rough season. I predict a lot more time bow hunting this fall.

Interesting. Using kids with cancer to shame a fanbase into blindly supporting mediocrity is new to Sixpack, but dudes on Tigerdroppings be like

This is where I am. Although it was the Kentucky game for me with Moorhead.

Lebby was a first year coach and made it much harder on himself by not getting any help on the defensive side of the ball. So maybe he will look like a different coach this year. But man did we look poorly coached last year.

What is the team was exceptional? Like we won the SECCG or made the playoffs? Maybe even was the best team in school history? I still say we have fans that would shame Selmon and Lebby and would sit on their hands.

I would support mediocrity, we are a long 17ing way from mediocrity. Mediocrity in 2025 would be a huge improvement over the ****-show I watched in 2024.

Even if this could be proven true,
So.

What.

You act like any level of success this year should bring the fanbase into some kumbaya echo chamber. Very naive. Success is never without a contingent of whining petty biznatches that never cease to find fault. It practically defines the political climate.

Don’t forget that in spite of the Bulls winning 6 world titles, the General Manager got rid of Phil Jackson and gutted the team.

Hell, we still see and hear idiots continue to be buttthurt at Mullen “underachieving” and still glad he left. Subsequent events have shown that to be one of the dumbest hills to die on ever in sports.

Am I excited about football on May 13th? Not really but come August, I will be all in. I will double my bet from last year on the over win total to make up for last year's loss.

You’re right about the Kentucky game. That should have been the game that made everyone lose hope. I think I gave the team a pass hoping it was just a bad game.

How about win more than 2 games this season against more than the likes of UMASS and E KY for starters?

How about not hiring a guy that had never been a HC before to coach an SEC team and watch him go 5-6?

How about not sitting around for the past 4 seasons watching the baseball program tank?

How about not losing to the likes of Toledo?

I await your answer.......

My point is that it SHOULD bring the fanbase into a kumbaya moment, but you are right - it won't. That was my original point. There will be some of our fanbase who will complain literally no matter what. Even if it was the best team in our school history.

we will win non-conference games and our only SEC wins might be Arkansas and Missouri, about a 2.3% chance to win those.

The truth is there haven't been many things to be excited about with any of the big three sports. The free agency is terrible to me. I like to know who is on the team year to year. But maybe baseball will be back. It's a little better and maybe Lebby is learning on the job and can take a step this year. It would help if he would stop bragging about showtime. I ain't seen anything but hot garbage so far.

It's May and we still have baseball or a reasonable facsimile thereof. I won't get excited until August or so and will do well to not get too hyped up. I just haven't seen enough in the offseason to get me real excited about the upcoming season. Between now and then I'll drink heavily and visit the dispensary often. It's the best way to cope.

this is the opposite of a Kumbaya echo chamber. Here, no one is happy, and everyone disagrees.
MSUDAWGFAN comes in here gnashing teeth at the sour disposition and negativity of the most embattled fanbase on earth. Very Sherlock-ey.

The thing I love about SPS has much to do with its founding. If you want a blithe sunshine pumping echo chamber of baseless positivity, go elsewhere. This place will challenge/shittt on almost anything. God bless it.

I didn't think sarcasterisks were necessary on my post. I stand corrected.

100% agree. I enjoy some good banter. However, some people here go to the extreme. One of the aspects of SPS that I really appreciate is that if I have an OT question, someone here can usually help. However, some people feel the need to sh it on everything. For example I have asked if anyone has ever used off brand nespresso pods and I get answers like anything that isn't Flogers is crap or I asked if anyone has ever treated crape myrtles for black scale and I get crape myrtles are sh it and should be cut down. That's great that you think that, but what does that have to do with what I'm asking?
