All three Mississippi schools. 7 SEC teams. 3 C-USA teams. Gonzaga. Pittsburgh. And then several others you’d expect.

Interesting list to say the least.

My understanding from talking to someone who was familiar with how NCAA did Covid regionals for other sports, expect some draconian mask policies and attendance limits. Probably clear out the first row or 2 of seating near the playing surface for “safety”.

Is Ole Miss really dumb enough to fire Bianco? If so, are they smart enough to get on the Lane Train? I hope not.

So which 16 become hosts?

You expect the usual suspects, but good on the committee for including Charlotte, Gonzaga, Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss in the 20. pic.twitter.com/cW0FZKgB0s— Steve Robertson (@ScoutSteveR) May 14, 2021

With the new CDC rec's, I'm not sure how they can justify that. a lot has changed virus wise since March.

I really hope we get USM in ours and can tell them to go **** themselves when they want to order tickets. The last 2x we've been down there they didn't allow squat for MSU fans and its time to pay them back. We'll use the Chinese virus as an excuse for limiting them

Better question is “which four will not be hosts?”

I think at least one SEC team and one C-USA team gets cut. Possibly two of each. Gonzaga is probably very borderline so they may get cut.

I’m of the opinion that the Top 13 are pretty solid right now and you’ve got seven teams (Pitt, Ole Miss, SC, LA Tech, USM, Charlotte, Gonzaga) fighting for two spots.

And I don’t think both Oxford and Hattiesburg get regionals. But if one of them hosts I bet the other is the 2 seed in that Regional.

My non-hosts:
Second place in CUSA West.
The lowest two from the SEC.
Gonzaga.

I hope your right. Worried the NCAA is more concerned about appealing to a certain demographic of our country that has made strict Covid protocols a part of their political identity and ignores all the data that has come out since March 2020.

Heard they were sending advanced teams down to tennis regional host sites to ensure everyone is trained in “proper protocols”.

I think the non-hosts are Ole Miss (they've lost 5 of their last 6 series and play Vandy this weekend), South Carolina and then 2 from Charlotte, ODU, Southern Miss & Gonzaga (dependent on how those schools do in their conference tournaments).

I wonder what max attendance we provided. I hope we gave them like 26,000 so 13, 000 can attend.

This is easily solvable. Put about 8 unmanned checkout resisters and a couple racks of trash tabloids in front of the gate and tell the ncaa the dude is now a Walmart. Complete the look by having the ticket takers all be above 80 years old.

Ole Miss is perhaps the most uniquely positioned of all the teams. If they go 4-2 or better against Vandy / UGA, they are a national seed. If they go 2-4 or worse, they may not host at all. Wide range of potential outcomes for them.

Also close other entrances and force everyone in through the same entrance for social distancing.

Outside of us going 6-0 in these last two series (incredibly unlikely) I think the national seed ship has sailed. You can’t lose 5 series and expect to be a national seed. Especially when two are LSU and A&M. I also think the committee will factor in Hoglund being out, fair or not.
