I would take Power and Frazier over Bryant and Hood. Hood will end up being far better than Power was I am sure though.

The biggest difference to me is that the 2004 team played defense, went for lose balls, and had a Mr Clutch in Bowers. Those are the intangibles missing from this year's team.

In 2004, we played good defense, and confused teams with different styles. I remember in a few close games, we would switch to a 1-3-1 defense with Vincent up top. It seems we'd do this a lot of the times after the 8:00 TO; it was just enough to confuse the opposing offense for a few possessions and we could pull away. I'm no basketball genius, but I don't understand why we don't do something similar this year.

Also, Bowers and Frazier were good 3pt defenders; they were deceptively long and managed to block several 3pt attempts each that year.

Bowers for his clutch play and Vincent would mean the world to us on the defensive end. ****, this team would be a LOT better if we just swapped Sidney and Vincent, despite Sidney being a better talent and offensive player

and Hilarity ensued!

In 1996 State dropped a few midseason games they shouldn't have and were sitting at 18-7 before going on a tear. They were also 6-4 in SEC at one point before finishing 10-6.<div>
</div><div>In 2012 State has dropped a few midseason games they shouldn't have and are sitting at 19-6 before ...... (falling in the *******, going on a tear, finishing mediocre). State is also 6-4 in SEC at this point.</div><div>
</div><div>Someone always makes these comparisons, so thought I'd look at it to see where it matches up. I don't think this team has the leadership the 1996 team had, however I think the talent is equal or better this year.</div><div>

And they didnt bring it every night- but started getting excited as the end of the season came along. It was also a case of Dontae figuring out what he was going to have to do to stay on the court to satisfy Williams

This team looks like they just dont really give a **** at times- much different than coasting.

More of the same and we end up on the bubble, 8-9 seed at best. IF we play a little defence and show a little more heart late, we get in 5-8 seed. Getting to the Sweet 16 would be really outstanding for this team. </p>
