He gave them stock in his company. The tax advantages of giving appreciated stock is much, much, much greater than giving cash. He may have given it to them with restrictions on when they could sell it (not as likely) or more likely he just gave it to them with a non-binding and secret "hint" that he'd really, really appreciate it if they sold no more than 10% of the original donation per year and instead issue bonds secured by the stock.

Alcorn's president used to be a VP at Central Michigan, which is also mentioned in the espn.com story linked in your next comment re: Alcorn.

.....wouldn't win no matter where you play them. That's what should make the 2010 schedule "easier."

4 of 6 on the road to start 2011? Would love to flip those Memphis games and open on the road next year to balance out 2011.

Only because Memphis and UAB are two games that we will likely have enough people there to make it a neutral site game at worst. Plus, I suspect that they will both be pretty beatable, especially with what we should have in two more years.

And I know that there was a rumor about one of our non-conference road games being bought out and moved to Jackson. I have no idea if it had any legs though. If that did happen, that would essentially be another home game for us.

That 2011 schedule is the first of what our schedules should look like at worst. La Tech is probably the best non-conference team on there, and we have them at home.
