Since this team and season will be the new standard by which we will measure success of a baseball team, who do you see in 25 years having the "superstar" names as the previous being Will Clark, Palmeiro, etc. That team we know now to have been a bunch of superstars but did you guys realize it at that time?

Chad's Girodos will be superstars in 25 years if they get to work and can gift us a few more left handed pitchers

I asked this the other day. Surely people knew Palmeiro and Clark were going to be special, but for every MSU player everyone thinks will be special there are a 100 who last 3 years in the minors and end up getting a regular job.

I really hate that BA Vollmouth kid from USM a couple of years ago taken in the 2nd or 3rd round. He is their Renfroe.... But as of last week he's hitting 0.86 for his career. Prime example of it just not translating.

Renfroe is going to he good if he can figure it out. If Rea can make the sophomore-junior leap that so many have done recently for us he'll be the next Papi. Holder will be an MLB player too. Lord knows about Frazier, but he could potentially be a college hall of game guy.

Lot of MLB talent on our roster sandwiched in between a couple of average guys. It'll be interesting to see if Cohen can capitalize on recruiting.

Speaking of which, Palmeiro's son? Any word?

Gotta speak honestly here.

Rea has a HUGE hole in his swing. I don't know why more pitchers don't throw him up and in or down and in. He's got to learn how to handle those pitches better. His power and ability to drive pitches out over the plate are without question. He's an excellent defender.

Holder either needs to add velocity to his fastball, or he needs to learn a slider or splitter to compliment the curve. Right now it's too easy to look fastball and spit on the curve. When his curve ball is on he is unhittable, but when he's not commanding that pitch, he is walking the tightrope. These things are easy to do though.

Girodo and Ross Mitchell both nibble too much with those sliders. As effective as those pitches are, they are are deadly when they are throwing them ahead in the count.

Renfroe has all the tools but he still has a long way to go to be an impact pro player. He has tremendous upside and with a good work ethic, he will be successful.

We have a lot of talent coming back. I'm excited about the future of the program and where we are headed. I don't know if CWS finals are necessarily sustainable, but there's no question that super regionals and CWS berths should be more commonplace in the coming years.

There was never a doubt about Clark and Palmeiro....period. Renfroe has a chance and anybody else on this team would be a pleasant surprise.

Concur about Wes. His swing got better as the year goes on, and I think (hope) he gets that last bit nailed down. If he does--whoa.

Holder could use a changeup, straight or circle. Just something that looks identical to his fastball, but knocked down about 7-8 mph. If he can command that pitch as well as his fastball, then he'll have hitters out on their front foot consistently.

When you have a good curve like Holder has, that's really going to be his off speed pitch. That's why I said slider or splitter. A slider would be effective because it would be 5-8 MPH slower than his fastball but it would still be a hard pitch, so more hitters will bite on it.

Very true. Either way we agree he needs a 3rd pitch, something that looks close to his fastball, whether it be a change, slider, splitter, whatever. Can definitely see him being affective with a slider.

I think Graveman has a shot to be a servicible pitcher in the big leagues. When a pro pitching coach gets aholt of him and really learns how to command and move his sinker he could be really good.

Other than that it is hard to say. Frazier could be a big league Guy as a 2nd baseman, obviously renfroe has the ability but he has a good ways to go, rea has to correct a good bit when it comes to his swing and approach at the plate. Only time will tell if these guys have what it takes to deal with the work and daily grind of pro ball. A lot of folks with the talent don't make it just because they aren't suited for it.
