Samson Evans 100% with a tip of the cap to Alex Peete from Johnsburg and Jordan Rowell of IC.

Evans takes down Montini and SHG in the same year and a very very good Dekalb team.

Peete goes toe to toe with the Cox brothers from Rochester and almost does it.

Rowell a man amongst boys but in that conference and in 3A? Not doing it against the highest competition. Not saying he cant, he'd be a great running back at any level, but my money is on Evans.

My son went to Montini so after watching him play for two years, I would vote for Samson Evans.

Samson Evans.
The Thomas kid from East Side is awfully talented, but Evans means everything to PR.

I think this year in a show of unity we should give Players of the year acknowledgement to the entire Fenwick football team. The other guys are all certainly deserving as well, but no other group has taken a worse beat then them.

MVP - absolutely Evans. That kid is awesome.

Best player - someone who makes you quake and because you have no answer - Jeff Thomas.

Samson Evans didn't play a lot of defense this year and without him PR would be solid not spectacular.

Absolutely not meaning to diminish anything Sampson has done ... but Dergo comparisons?

Dergo played every snap and prolly even washed team uniforms and kept the grass cut - that's how much he did for Morris.

Cru, I was curious as I hadn't seen Evans play before. The talk he's getting is his one of Illinois best ever.

Dergo in my opinion is the best hs player in IHSA history. Morris hero for all eternity.

Sorry Hilltopper friends.

Dergo looks like a nice back, but how good could he really be if no one offered him in football?

It's not like that JCA team was any good in that video.

He had a full ride to Illinois on a wrestling scholarship. He was a once in a generation football player, but an even better wrestler.

Respectfully disagree. He was a two time champ (undefeated last 2 years) and a 3x qualifier. That's all very impressive and he was a fanastic wrestler but that's hardly generational. Lots of guys won 2 state titles not many guys had the football career Dergo did. At least on the high school level, he obviously believed (as did College football program) that his ceiling was as a wrestler in college. I think his college wrestling career was a little bit of a disappointment however. In terms of HS football careers this state hasn't seen many like it.
