So what are the playoff bracket sizes? 32-64-64-32, or 48-64-64-48? Or is that a separate discussion?
My understanding is that will not change from current, but not 100% sure. There will still be 8 championships in football.

Bareman, what are you hearing?

How long until the NCHSAA puts out the preliminary conference affiliations for the new realignment?

I had read somewhere that some schools had adjusted numbers, east montgomery being one of them, that would place them back in 1A. Are these the final numbers? If so east montgomery is clearly in 2A number wise.

Not that it matters, but 393 seems high for Elkin.

That's 98 per class on the average and I've never known of any single class having over 90, and most are in the low 80's.

Again it doesn't matter, Elkin will never be anything but 1A.

N.Stokes, S.Stokes, W.Stokes, Carver, Walkertown, Atkins, Prep, Bishop?
With Mount Airy & East Surry ? That makes for a weaker conference only allowing 2 no conference games. N.Stokes, S.Stokes,Atkins , Prep, & Bishop ?????????? 5 weak teams !

I think East Surry & Mount Airy will be going with Starmount, Alleghany, Elkin, East Wilkes. This is the old conference. This is not a very strong basketball conference, but should make for some great rivalries in football, baseball, volleyball, softball.

I sure hope so and play West Stokes & Walkertown non-conference ! This will draw better gates and allows these schools to play better non-conference in basketball .

If North Stanly goes back to 2A, kiss the streak of winning seasons goodbye. Dropping to 1A several years ago was the best thing ever to happen to their FB program.

Also, surprised that North Rowan is losing enrollment. Would have expected them to grow, not shrink, given location. This will be their first time as a 1A school, correct?

I know the lines have to be drawn somewhere, but when you look at that list the advantages some schools have in sheer numbers becomes obvious.

North Rowan was 1A in the Yadkin Valley the last time around. Just went back to 2A for this alignment. I know East Montgomery and West Montgomery numbers adjusted, but the net effect was 0. EM is still 2A and WM is still 1A. The first number was just a draft I believe and all school systems had a chance to look at the numbers. I know WM was listed with over 600 and we haven't had that many in a while. The last number I had heard was 550. Looks like the final is 575.

Hard to believe 647 is the biggest 1a school. The last time Polk was in 1a we had over 700 kids and were no where near the biggest 1a school. But I guess all these charter schools and that only 20% of the schools are in 1a now have alot to do with that. Looking forward to Polk being back in 1a
