Well, Penn State has a chance to host a sub-regional, that probability is slim now that we lost to Illinois.

PSU was up 16-11 in S3. But tOSU went on a run, and had the lead 24-22. PSU got two straight service aces from Gillian Grimes to tie it at 24, and ended up winning S3

Edit: it appears that PSU WVB deleted the tweet. That may be because they showed S3 as a 27-25 win for PSU, whereas I believe it was a 28-26 win for PSU.

Anyway, match is 2-1, PSU

a close set. PSU had the lead early, then tOSU was up a bit, and then they traded points. tOSU finally came out on top 17-15 in S5, and takes the match 3-2

At 15-15 in Set 5 the teams had an incredible back-and-forth point that unfortunately tOSU ultimately won, probably the best exchange of the night.

To this casual observer, Penn State's back line wasn't capable of making some digs to save possessions, and Ohio State was. Plus, it seemed like Penn State tried too many soft touches over the net which did nothing but set up OSU for kill shots.

Your first observation is related to your second observation. Even when the back row was able to pass from service receptions and digs, the passes were low quality and put the team out of system. That means fewer hitting options and poor sets, which lead to weak attacks and tip shots.

It all starts with passing.
