Shift - agreed.

I thought the question about Ciarrrocca was a missed opportunity. Even for the non-fan, a better question would've been something to the effect of -- "Why did you bring Kirk on-board? Was it because of the results he had at Minnesota? Or, is it because you have a history of him and you can work together?"

We know the answer to this . The OC job here is not exactly enviable . Schiano had to throw enough money at KC for him to cry uncle and eventually say yes.

Better question is, why you paying Kirk so much money compared to what he got at minny ?

I mean Kirk did dial up that classic 99 yard drive against Schiano last year . Not sure if it should get a half million dollar raise though.

I think some of could answer that question.

The answer is that is the "best" guy Greg could get for a very difficult job with a historically woeful performance, and nobody was going to step into the RU OC shoes without getting paid a lot of money. As I have advised lots of young people considering career options and promotions (which echoes very sage advice that I received years ago from a trusted and loved boss) is that the "best" job is not necessarily the one that pays the most. Most important is the job one in which you will grow and learn. Then, how are you boss and co-workers, and third, is this a good organization to work for. Overriding all of this is why leave your current job if your role is solidified there? Maybe that's why KC held out and got the most money he could. And Greg probably felt that spending this amount of money on a guy he knows and would give him what he wants/needs was worth hiring a younger coach that might not pan out.

That’s a very good answer you provided and probably accurate.
I think Greg would be a little more close to the vest with his answer lol

The question - and its answer - are for Greg, himself.

He hires a guy that didn't exactly show significant results last year at Minnesota, and one whom their fans are glad to see go. In front of cameras, Greg fawns and talks about how wonderful he is. And, showing his savvy as an elite head coach, hires him with a big salary.

Considering WE KNOW the reason why he hired the guy, I'd like for him to say, "Uhh .. yeah .. looks like I might be losing some support here among the fans. Because, ya' know - I told you how wonderful the last guy was before letting him go after a couple of seasons. And, now I'm telling you THIS GUY is the right guy. I guess you could say this is a Hail Mary, here."

I don't want to detract from the discussion here. I just want to see some humility from the guy. Is that so much to ask in Season 4 of a less-than-stellar comeback?
