Greg had 1 worthwhile shot the entire match and it was 10 seconds in and he couldn’t finish it.
Odd match. Guess that ride took everything out of him.
Not what I expected. Shame. Very disappointing from Greg.
extremely boring

285 pounds: Greg Kerkvliet vs. Mason Parris, Michigan

First period
Kerk is in on a quick single and Parris tries to fend it off on the edge but Kerk pulls him back in and they go briefly neutral and then Parris shoots on a fireman carry and Kerk rolled through but Parris scores nonetheless and it's a 2-0 lead for the Wolverine as they go off the edge. Kerk stands, is almost out, but Parris climbs back up his leg and regains control before they go off the edge. Kerk rolls but Parris goes right with him. Stalemate with 1:13 left. Kerk still down. He sits out but Paris flattens him back out. Parris now has two minutes in RT. Parris works on a turning combination and Kerkvliet is cautioned for stalling. Parris rides out th period nad has 2:29 in RT and a 2-0 lead after one.

Second period
Parris down and out fast to 3-0. Paris now cautioned for stalling. Second ends 3-0. Both have stalling catuions. Parris has 2:22 in RT.

Third period
Kerk down to start the third. He sits out but Parris stays right with him. Riding time is secured for Parris so it's 4-0 now. And now, oh no, we have injury time for Kerkvliet, who is flexing his right leg. After the stoppage, Parris has choice and picks down. Kerk gets a figure four ride on Parris' side and Parris is called for stalling which makes it 4-1. Kerk cuts to 5-1. That's how it ends

Parris d. Kerkvliet, 5-1.

oh well, Kerk had a good plan in terms of trying to get the 1st TD. And he nearly had it. But then he gave up a TD, and he's shown he has trouble getting out from under Parris.

Kerk is so close, but needs a few more things in the arsenal to get 1 step higher up on the platform

Was that a good plan? I feel like he’s shot early and often against Parris the past two matches and been countered every time. Sure “get the TD” is a great plan, but he didn’t really do any better executing the plan than he has before. Had hoped he would maybe try to play the counter game and let Parris come at him.

Idk, just felt like he knew he lost as soon as Parris got him 20 seconds in.

Good effort Greg. Mason on another level this year. While hate Michigan, the guy has elevated his craft. Going in, I thought Greg had the toughest road tonight.

In the gym Monday

I think if you ask Parris how he wants GK to attack it’s straight on and early so he can react, adjust, and save his energy for a ride. And Greg has given him exactly that 3 times in a row this year.

seems like a classic case of one guy is just better than the other. that simple unfortunately

MP has Kerk’s #. A recurring challenge for most wrestlers once they have lost a few times to the same guy. No shame. Bears the old slobber chopper days at HWT. Paris earned it.

Ramos living on the edge (metaphorically) but defending. Well, finally gave up the TD.

Ugh. Can’t help but feeling like a disappointing night man!
Tough saying that with 2 champs but just really unexpected poor showings from RBY and GK takes a bit of the sweetness out from CStar and Brooks. If those were close competitive fights it would be one thing, but like this? Serious bummer.

133 pounds: Roman Bravo-Young vs. Vito Arujau, Cornell

First period
Plenty of feeling out through the first minute of action. They tie up with 1:45 left but then break apart. VA gets in on RBY's leg, hikes it up, and slips in behind for a 2-0 lead. RBY stands and is out to 2-1 with a minute left in the first period. VA in on another single leg and gets another takedown. He now has a 4-1 lead. VA rides out the period. That is the third and fourth takedown RBY has surrendered al year. VA leads 4-1 after one.

Second period
VA down to start the second. He reverses RBY after nearling pining him but gets two nearfalls for a 8-1 lead for VA. They go off the edge with 1:18 left. RBY out to 8-2. A tremendous scramble saw both wrestlers with a chance to score but neither does and they stand neutral. RBY shoots late but cannot get a takedown. It's 8-2 after two in favor of VA.

Third period
RBY down. RBY rolls through and has an escape to 8-4 with 1:26 left to wrestle. VA out to 9-4. They're neutral with 1:05 left. No scoring rom there.

Vito Arujau, Cornell d. Rokman Bravo-Young, 9-4
