How many incoming freshmen do we have to go with the six returning players? How many players will be have on the roster - max?
No recruits have been signed yet for the team's 23 class. However, we are in on quite a few of the top unsigned players including SF Madison Booker (#6) , PG/SG Milaysia Fulwiley (#7), C Aalyah Del Rosario (#13), among others. WF Riley Stack is not rated but is a legacy and may get an offer as well.

I would not be surprised, as @winloseortie has mentioned, to see Amihere return. I can also see Beal doing the same. Both doing so would be great for the program. I think we will also add a couple of high end transfers from the portal to shore up any positional deficiencies, etc. for the 2023 season.

Just an addendum to a good post. Stack has an offer, though in the world of college athletics not sure what exactly that means

Ok that’s three offers in a week! Must be offering season for us. That is 10 offers for the ‘24 class which feels like a lot for us and the time frame. All are top notch. Umeh and Walker are on the same AAU team. Regulars please speculate

Eniya to Kentucky, actually sounds like a win-win for both parties. She'll definitely get more playing time with the recent exodus of their starters.

I wish Eniya well. I think she could have done better but WTH do I know. 5 Fr. Coming in and 3 transfers joining a rather empty cupboard

Does anyone have any info on Rivers? I'm thinking at this point, she may come back....

We'll have two incoming freshmen - G Talaysia Cooper and F Ashlyn Watkins. With those and Fletcher as a incoming transfer, we'll have a total of 11 players.

A. Boston
Z. Cooke
V. Saxton
B. Beal
L. Amihere
O. Thompson
K. Cardoso
R. Johnson
B. Hall
S. Feagin
K. Fletcher

I would like to see at least a 12th addition to the roster, a G-W player to support Beal, Hall, and Cooke......

From the vague, out of the loop perspective that I have had of the situation, I would be highly surprised if Rivers came back. She herself seemed to lock down that lid to the coffin by declaring that it just isn't a good fit for her at USC. Why would a highly talented player like that stay in a program that she feels isn't a good fit for her???

Hate to see her go. She can make things happen.

As of now we have 13 on roster
Srs
Amihere, Beal, Boston, Cooke, Fletcher, Saxton and Thompson
Jrs.
Cardoso
So.
Hall and Feagin
Fr.
Johnson rs, Cooper and Watkins

Of the 50 or so impact transfers there are only 3 who haven’t found a home...
Angel Reese from UMD. Is the big fish
Sonya Morris from DePaul who averaged 15 ppg
And Saniya Rivers

Rivers not committing yet is ambiguous
Is she being extra careful? Is she considering a lot of teams and just hasn’t narrowed down? Is she considering staying?

We have a total of 13 players for next year not 11.

Part of the reason the transfer portal feels so chaotic is due to the additional COVID season. I expect things to settle down a bit in a couple of years.

Using the transfer portal heavily is robbing Peter to pay Paul, imo. We used it to great effect with the additions of Gray and Davis in 2017. We also paid for it a bit the next couple of seasons (relatively speaking that is: we still made the Sweet 16 both season). But it was worth it because coach used the 2017 success to land the marvelous Boston, Cooke, Beal, Amihere class (the greatest class in Gamecock history, any sport).

Teams like Carolina and UCONN, who recruit elite high school players, are at advantage because they can use the portal very selectively. They were in the Final Four last season, along with Stanford, and I don't see how the transfer portal comings and goings have changed the likely outcome that those 3 teams return again this upcoming season.

Amihere is such an interesting case. She had the two knee injuries in her jr and Sr years in Hs. She was really still rehabbing her first year. She has the best measurables on the team in strength, jumping and speed. Her potential is almost unlimited.... I think she comes back for an extra year. The draft will be stacked, there will be more minutes

I think both Amihere and Beal could return. I mean...Kayla Pointer returned for her 5th season, was drafted in the 1st round and was cut yesterday by the Aces. If I were them, I would return. I expect Zia to leave, although I read somewhere that she makes $8,000 per instagram post.

btw, underrated fact: Raven Johnson will get an additional year due to her injury. So our freshman class is Johnson, Cooper and Watson. That's one of the top classes in the country right there.

This should help in sorting out the transfer portal aftermath

Wow. Baylor could only get to 20 with the addition of Edwards and Blackwell. Case in point of a coach who's going to need to start landing some top high school players or the program will cease to be a perennial top 10 program.

Same goes for LSU, added 4 starters through the portal and have all SEC Alexis Morris and it got them to 22.

Mulkey did a great job last year, but quite frankly, she was rescued last season by Covid years and will again be rescued this season by portal and Covid. If she does not have a big year recruiting this season, I think it raises serious questions about her recruiting ability/cache

Ironic and telling that Henny made the league and Porter did not

I don't get how UConn losing three experienced players in Williams, Westbrook and ONO isn't looked at more negatively. Sure they have great guards but they will have very little post depth with experience. Not to mention they lost one of their scorers, some of their better defenders and passers. I think 2md might be generous given how much they lost this offseason.

It speaks to reputation but also talent. They have a 10 deep roster of top notch talent. What they don’t have is a great post player. I expected more from Juhasz. But who really matches up with them besides us and Stanford?

Just a note on Jaloni Cambridge in the 2024 class. She is the #2 recruit and we have been recruiting her hard.
She has an older brother Devan played at Auburn and is in the portal. Her oldest sister Jordyn played at Vandy. Her other sister, Kennedy, signed with UK. Kennedy was not ranked in the top 100 and plays the same position as Jaloni.

Angel Reese to LSU, looks like they made the most out the portal and should be a top team in conference next season now.

So just to stir the pot......
Out of the top 100 or so WBB Transfer Players
only 2 have not landed at a new school, Sonya Morrow from DePaul and our own Saniya Rivers.

It has been 3 1/2 weeks since Rivers announced her intentions to transfer.......

Maybe just maybe

If I'm not mistaken, I'm sure Tennessee is already at capacity so even if Rivers wanted to go they would need to drop someone first.

Tennessee needs post depth more so than guards.

They just recently brought in Hollingshead, the 6’5” Fr from UGA. If my math is right they have one spot open
