What is the current streak against the upstate Tigers? Must be about a dozen or so, isn't it?
We have an 11 game streak against Tater Tech with an average margin of victory being 28 points. The closest game in that span was 12 points and our last last loss was 2010 there
92-94.

Guys it doesn’t matter what we offer..... that’s the whole fricking point. They want a deal that is advantageous to them!! THEY DO NO WANT A FAIR DEAL! It’s really that simple

The new ESPN Gurlz Hoops ranking for 2023 top 100 is out...Fulwiley dropped and Rosario climbed to #8.

The 2024 group is interesting as McMiller from Hartsville is ranked as one of the top PG's. Joyce Edwards is still #1. There are a couple of girls from North Carolina that I know we are recruiting like Blanca Thomas who dropped to #10 and Hobbs fell all the way to #40. I've been watching online that player from Raleigh, 6'2" Sarah Strong. It would be nice to get Edwards, Thomas, Strong, and McMiller for the class of 24...

Surprised to see Fulwiley drop 9 spots
Booker (who @winloseortie is very high on) as well

still would love to have both as part of the 23 class

I’m not sure what’s up with this.

Both Fulwiley and Booker were kids who started as middle schoolers and have been on the radar for 5 years or more. Everyone knows about them and everyone knows they are 5* players.

They did not lose stars just dropped spots. Fulwiley has been as high as #2 and Booker #5.
My guess🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Is that some players have developed with the years. Del Rosario is a good example, bigs generally develop slower.

I also wonder if there is some fatigue because their game has been under scrutiny for so long. I wonder if analysts have morphed from the wow to the “well she can’t do this” because they have been watching them so long.

Starting with 2020 class (Boston,Cooke, Beal, Amihere) Hoopgurlz has greatly reduced the number 5* ratings they give out. For the decade prior there were about 50 players that they rated 5*. Three of the last four years there have around 20.

All of this is to say I wouldn’t worry about them dropping.

Lastly DS has a prejudice for athleticism. Three examples. Saxton and Russell were barely in the top 50 but were considered as top 2 or 3 athletes in their class. Kiki was like #81 but also considered as one of the classes top athletes.
Fulwiley and Booker fall in this category.

We have also offered in 24
#2 Cambridge
#3 Olson
#16 Blakes
#21 Kate Koval
I believe we have also had unofficial visits from 2 of them

Well, they did succeed in getting the ACC to let them join in all league-sponsored sports except football. I would have told them that they could remain independent in Ice Hockey, but must compete in football. 😁

UnCarolina has pushed neutral site Charlotte with us over the years. My perception is that Charlotte is becoming "more neutral" than it used to be.

We use to play UNC at Neutral site game in Myrtle Beach. They dropped the game once we got good.

Well aware of that. While I (and I'm sure many others) would have preferred a home-and-home with the Holes, at least MB appears reasonably neutral.

DANG IT! You’re too good and fast for me. Scooped again by Gamekem!!

I guess nobody really wants their asses handed to them.
Honestly I thought of your posts when I saw it. Sadly teams ducking top teams will only hurt them in long run, especially around tournament time.

Kudos to Dook, NCSU, Maryland, and UCONN for not falling into that trap. Would like for them to schedule the men in hoops too.

How many times did we get our butts handed to us by UConn until we finally broke through? Now we have won 3 of last 4 meetings with them. In the words of Ric Flair I think it was, "To be the best, you have to beat the best". If those teams want to reach the top, they have to be willing to climb the mountain. We did it with UConn so those teams need to start doing the same with us.

I believe We have completed our H&H with UMD and Duke, not sure if they are being renewed. NCSU is in process of being renewed, and Uva says we are in negotiations with Iowa.
Don’t forget Stanford in your kudos, they show no fear in scheduling.

I think Flair actually said, “To be THE MAN you gotta beat THE MAN! WOOO, WOOO!”

Exactly, I think that really helped. If we take away the UConn games, we would likely have a false sense of security and instead of getting embarrassed in our yearly matchup we would just get embarrassed at the big stage of the tournament with no chance to improve. Also unlike UConn teams of the past, we haven't had any undefeated seasons,so there's still reasonable they could get a win with the right game plan and talent.

We use to play UNC at Neutral site game in Myrtle Beach. They dropped the game once we got good.

The Carolinas Challenge was mostly a UNC thing set up between Hatchell and promoters of the local Beach Ball Classic tournament for boys and girls prep basketball. Hatchell pretty much took her Tarheels team to participate in the tournament every season she was head coach, with the last year being during the 2018-19 season, which was Hatchell's last season in Chapel Hill. They played against Rice and then Auburn, where they lost in overtime 86-81 (UNC went 18-15 in Hatchell's final season).

South Carolina only has a 1-3 record in the Carolinas Challenge tournament versus UNC. We played in the tournament five times, from 2009-10 through 2011-12 - all versus UNC - again in 2013-14 also versus UNC, and then one more time in 2015-16 against East Carolina. Hatchell may have dropped playing against us once we got good, but our last game against them in the tournament they beat us.

After Hatchell was fired from UNC, I don't think the tournament has been held anymore. But there is more connections in the Myrtle Beach area that supports North Carolina universities and athletic functions, than supports anything having to do with the University of South Carolina, unfortunately. Horry County is a county that borders the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the state border of North Carolina, so an awful lot of influence from the state up there, down here.......

Tournament? I thought it was just one collegiate game there each December on a neutral court.

The Grand Strand is a tourist destination for both Carolinas (well maybe not Beaufort).

The last 2-3 years they held it, it was a 4-team two-game format. In the final year, they had UNC (Hatchell's final year), Rice, East Carolina, and Auburn. UNC beat Rice in their semifinal, before losing to Auburn 2 days later.......

Thanks. Did not know. Thought that when we stopped playing the Holes there, they stopped playing there too.

Just saw on another site, Blanca Thomas, the 6'5" Center from Charlotte has a brother at Clemson and both her parents are Clemson fans. Maybe she ends up in Tigertown.

Of course her parents are Tater fans. They are "contractually obligated.";)

Yes...that would be perfect...easy flight to Chicago and ALWAYS up for games in Greenville....

With the new set up in the WBB Tournament, it looks like since the SWEET 16 and Elite 8 Games will be played in Greenville or Seattle, some of these teams might want to schedule a "neutral" site where they might be playing before the final four...

Why?

Tater WBB has had 1 winning season in the last 18 years. 196-346 overall 36.1% ACC 57-225 20.2%hat season was Amanda Butler's first season. In the following three seasons she is 30-58 overall and in ACC Play 11-42. If they finish higher than 12th in the ACC I will be shocked

They play an embarrassing OOC Schedule. Two of their starters/best players transferred/quit mid season last year. I do mean quit, Kiara Lewis just said “enough, I quit.” Two other starters graduated. They have one player, Fr. Ruby Whitehorn who would make our roster.

Sounds like they are as bad in WBB as we are in softball.....

Painful.

Several years ago, when Ga Tech's WBB program was such a dumpster fire, I remember reading that North Ave contacted Athens for "relief" on their WBB schedule (similar, perhaps to Tulane football in the Green Wave's final years in the SEC). Athens responded in no uncertain terms that Tech must continue to schedule UGA in all varsity sports in which both schools field a team or they would drop the Jackets in everything. That is a pretty strong statement.

Given how Pickens Tech has pretty much owned us on the gridiron since 1897 (albeit with notable exceptions, such as the first meeting in 1896), I don't see them making a stink about this one.

Gonna do my part to keep this thread at the top and lively so........

WINNING STREAKS Going into next season

BAMA 20 game streak
26-3 all time. Last loss was 2008, pre DS. Lost 54-65, Ilona Burgova was our leading scorer, y’all remember her, right?

Ole Miss 16 game streak
Lost in 2010 in SEC Tourney 63-64

UGA 15 game streak
Last loss was 40-42 Athens in 2013. An ugly, ugly game that we lost in the last seconds

Vandy 14 game streak
Last loss was 2011 there by the score of 60-74. This was when Vandy was a perennial top 25 team.

UF 14 game streak
Last loss was 2011 here 63-65. Another last second loss

LSU 13 game streak
Last loss was in 2012 there by the score 48-58

Auburn 12 game streak
Last loss 2012 there by a score 49-53.
First post but a long time lurker on alot of wb boards. I will try to post some to help keep this thread toward the top. My story is i began paying attention to Gamecock WBB when they hired Coach Staley and by paying attention I mean checking scores when they played and watching on tv from time to time. Long story short by Tiffany Mitchell's sophomore year I was hooked and made sure I was watching when they played, a few times at the CLA or watching on TV. Its been a fun ride the last 9 or 10 years and lets face it being a Gamecock fan I never have alot to cheer about.

watched the first ep of the Net Worth docuseries and came away even more impressed with the program, coaches, players, support staff, etc.

kudos to the people who produced, edited, etc. it as well - great content & quality. besides being an entertaining recap of a championship season, this series can also serve as a great recruiting tool as any top recruit, parent, fan can get an additional quality look at the SC women’s basketball program for more insight on what the culture and expectations are when playing for Dawn & the Gamecocks
