Watching the post game press conference from LSU. It’s what you would think from the players. Woe is them. Everyone picks on them. Boo hoo. Will say, however, Mulkey has been fairly tame though, to her credit.

LSU’s roster for next year is fascinating speculation. Poa, HVL and Reese’s deadline to declare for WNBA is Saturday.

I can see HVL staying in college although not necessarily at LSU. She has been humbled by the position change. Preseason her attitude was that she was already a great PG and that LSU was simply a place to showcase it. EVERYONE has pointed out her deficiencies and under the spotlight. She needs another year in college but where?

Reese is emotionally exhausted and if she comes back to LSU next year, the circus will only be worse and darker. I think her bravado and bullying mask an overwhelmed somewhat insecure and emotionally fragile young woman. Welcome to being talented and 22 and having a lot on your shoulders. The mentoring Mulkey appears to give only seems to inflame her narcissism.

Her Defense and rebounding assure that she will make a WNBA roster. She will however need to go to the right place AND do a 2 year apprenticeship to be a star.

The conundrum is that what is best for her development as a player and person is not necessarily what is best for Financial bottom line. Hard waters to navigate.

Poa stays, she seems to have found a home and know her role.

Del Rosario and Velez(who is that you say?) came to LSU as a package deal. Velez was ranked #35 and a PG. Neither has come close to expectations. Over rated? Ignored and under developed? Who knows? Velez to me has no future at LSU. If HVL and Poa come back PG is out. And if they don’t come back…Kim is in the portal looking. She doesn’t have the skill set or size to play the 2. And yes there is Johnson and Williams at that position.

Wolfenbarger is coming in from Ark. Does she blossom and find a position? Or is she just another misfit on the island of broken toys?
Your observations/comments are spot on, thanks for sharing!

What were LSU's goal coming into the season besides winning the NCAA tournament?

* Make it to the Final Four
* Win the SEC regular season
* Win the SEC tournament
* Finally beat USC

They didn't accomplish any of those things. Angel and Flaujae did surpass 1 million instagram followers, so there's that.

Seriously, though, an Elite Eight appearance in year 3 of a coach's tenure is outstanding, but LSU managed to turn the season into a disappointment by buying into the relentless hype. Probably in their best interest that Reese move on and start laying a solid foundation with their younger players.

Mulkey lit a fire last year that just got out of control. Expectations and Ego run amok. If we are honest they were a public disaster maybe even a disgrace BUT they got better on the court. Just too many distractions to reach their full potential

Angel has the possibility to be an WNBA great IF she develops the skills to play a stretch 4. I think however she has hit her expiration date at LSU, the same goes for HVL.

The circus is leaving town and it’s time to sweep 🧹 up the elephant 💩. Flau’jae, Morrow and Williams are for real. If Sy’Myah Smith recovers from injury that gives 4 excellent players who are not head cases. Throw in Poa and that is at least a top 10 team. Everything else is a question mark.

The one 5 star Harper recruited has decommitted.

I wonder what Talaysia Cooper will do. 3 schools in 3 years is a tough way to go. It's 3 coaches in 3 years for her, regardless.

IF everyone comes back starting lineup
PG Cooper
SG Spear
SF Puckett
PF Striplin
C Hollingshead

Bench: Boyd, Wynn, and Strickland

That is enough talent to make NCAA Tourney. But even if everyone stays they need to bring in 4-5 from the portal. With every defection that number goes up. Very precarious position to put a new coach in UNLESS you already know who it is

With Jah leaving, I wonder if Cooper would finally accept that she is a wing and reach out to come back. It's home and I don't think she bought in and gave it a full opportunity the first time. We need bodies. What the heck.

Who says it was her decision to leave. With all the talented players out there that would love to play for Dawn, why bring back a player that wasn't buying into the culture the first time. We don't need "bodies", we need elite players and we will get them.

I wonder if there is some animosity over her leaving at the end of the summer and not allowing the coach staff to address her departure thru the portal? I don't know there's an issue. Just speculating.

I don't know there was an issue either. I think she was suspended sometime during the season. It might have been a game over some minor issue. Dawn always talks about the program standard. She has never gone into detail about what that is but it's probably very disciplined about not being late for class or practice. Or it could have been her choice because of her role or playing time. If so, that's still not accepting the role Dawn wants you to fill. Look at Ash. I'm sure she didn't like coming off the bench but she accepted it and has been critical to our success.

People can hate on HVL, but Reese must help on this screen.

Iowa scored 94 tonight. Remember we held them to 77. Our game plan was solid last year. Make Clark pass and make the rolling player convert at the basket.

We hit a couple of 3s or a few more foul shots, and we win that game. We have that 3 pt capability now.

I didn't realize Cooper was suspended. I recall Rivers missing a game for an undisclosed reason. Do you think you may have mixed those two up?

And, yes, I'm kind of glad Cardoso is moving on so Watkins can start next year. I felt the same way about Boston and Cardoso.

Very possible. I can't find it either

Massey Ratings is out and has UCONN at -3 with a 56% chance of winning with a predicted score of 80-77. I am a bit surprised, particularly since IOWA is a 1 seed.

Thought this was interesting. UNC has had several jump in portal and with their 2025 PG reclassifying rumor is that Deja not coming back for her 5th year

The kid had talent. She is just not a Point Guard. If she would accept that and play the wing, she can really help us. I am a Pee Dee guy. Grew up about 20-30 minutes from where Cooper grew up. Seen her play several times. Had told my Dad, who was a coach in the area until the mid-90s, that I did not believe she was a Point Guard, but believed she could be a player if she bought into being a wing. We have elite players, but we are only playing with 9 players. We will have a couple more next year, but two of them are injured. We are an injury or two away from being in a crisis depth wise. We were lucky this year. I just think we should find a way to carry no less than 12 moving forward.

That's a joke.
UConn does present a more favorable matchup for Iowa than LSU if they play the right way. I am sure Geno will have a better game plan than Mulkey. It was almost as if Mulkey wanted to showcase Clark for some reason. Don't know what made her think a 5'7" player without the best lateral quickness could guard an elite player like Clark. Bueckers/Clark should be an elite matchup worthy of a Final Four.

Maybe a more favorable matchup, but really? UCONN to win? Come on. I mean, of course it could happen, but there’s no way in a betting world you would think that it actually will happen.

Nah, I wouldn't bet it. Just saying UConn has some pieces that can do a better job than what LSU put forth. Actually, I thought LSU had better pieces. Mulkey just didn't use it. You have an athletic guard like Flau'jae and you decide to put HVL on Clark. What the heck.

only a 2.5 point favorite so it definitely could happen. Geno will have a better plan. My concern with UCONN is depth and early foul trouble

UCONN ain’t winning. It’ll be SC vs Iowa or State vs Iowa.
It's very hard to breakthrough in women's college basketball. Geno, Dawn, Tara and Mulkey have won 20 national championships between them. The only other active coach to have won one is Brenda Frese. I get the feeling Geno finds a way. Iowa is definitely a better matchup than LSU for UCONN. We'll see.

Everybody thinks they are getting whoever they dream of. LSU thought they were getting the top 3 players this year in recruiting and struck out. Tenn gets Lawson I think. Doubt Gotlieb leaves after just a couple years at big program like SoCal
Gottlieb has just got to an Elite 8 off the back of a star freshman and now she has the #1 recruiting class coming in. She's definitely not leaving and neither is JuJu. She wanted to stay at home and staying in LA has paid off really well financially too.

She couldn't be in a better place for her.
