Cardoso playing with her national team tonight. I hope we get to see some growth from her. I would love for her to be a little more aggressive and dominate like she can.

Thanks!

Any news, gossip, thoughts, or ideas about the rest of the OOC Schedule?

No clue at all, have really looked. I wouldn't mind playing UNC as regular again, especially since Duke opted out.
UNC, IOWA, NCSU and ND declined H&H. DS likes to play fairly local. UVA & WFU are wretched and hardly worth it. FSU & Ga Tech are decent but not a real challenge.

Va. Tech is the one I’m really hoping for. Top 15, not too far, African American coach on the rise. Other than that any challenging game is out of region. Would also love Louisville.

Big 12 challenge, would they dare let us match up with Okla or Texas. If not, That really only leaves K state(last year) Iowa St(2 years ago) Baylor(3 years ago)

I have heard nothing on a holiday tourney and would think all of them are already set.

I’m a little antsy for news

I'm surprised UNC declined unless they were already booked and the same with ND. I believe Dawn is good friends with both coaches and figure they would jump at the chance. Looking like our schedule won't be challenging next season, which might not be so bad considering the SEC is expected to be more competitive.

DS said that about ND&UNC at the post and courier event earlier this summer. I know LSU&UT Will be better this season maybe UF but I think the rest of the league is down from last season

Makes me think that Clemron would opt out if they could. Surprised the Pack opted out since they did beat us in Cola in the fall of 2020.

UCONN has been fortunate to be able to play a decent OOC schedule over the past couple of decades.

Of the 6 games scheduled 2 are against top 5, 3 are against top 25 and the clemson

In the South American Cup, I think Cardoso had an ok 1st game. One thing to note is that she moved up from the bench to a starter this year for her national team. Which means we could literally have two National team starters (Amihere and Cardoso) that won't start for our team next season.

She only played for 16 minutes but she scored 10 points and had 12 rebounds to go along with 2 steals, 1 blk and 1 ast. Pretty good stat line considering the time but she only shot 3/8 from the field. But on the plus side she did go 4/6 from the free throw line. Once she realizes her height and improve her efficiency in the paint, she can be a real problem.

Cardoso had a much better second game yesterday in 18 minutes she scored 18 points, going 6/9 from the field and shot a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line. She also had 9 rebounds, 2 ast, 1stl and 5 blocks.

Yeah if I'm being honest I didn't watch it live. I just watched it till she checked out the first time and continued to fast forward until she came back in again. She definitely set the tone and two days in she appears to be the team's current MVP.

Very sad, you hate for anyone to be injured, especially for multiple times. I hope she takes her time and give her body proper time to heal before coming back again, this is a sad day for college women's basketball.

UConn has a terrible run of injuries in the last year

Aubrey Griffin
missed all of last year with a bad back injury. She had surgery in January, a discetomy, and is still in rehab. They say all is good but I think they are whistling past the grave yard.

Bueckers
Had the tibia plateau injury and now the ACL

Dorka Juhasz
Fractured and dislocated her wrist in regional final. She is still in rehab and not yet cleared to practice

Caroline Ducharme
Had two concussions during the season and had hip surgery this summer. She is still rehabbing and is not yet cleared to practice

Azzi Fudd
Is still rehabbing her foot injury and is also not cleared to practice yet

Of the returning plays that played last year only Nika Muhl and Aliyah Edwards are healthy

Always hate to hear of a player hurting a knee. Best of luck on the rehab to Paige, who was fun to watch...

My hope is for the long-term wellbeing of these individuals.

Cardoso had another fantastic showing yesterday. In 15 minutes she scored 16 points on 6/9 shooting and 4/4 on the free throw. That's 10 straight free throws, that pretty good for a 6'8 post player. She also had 13 rebounds, 3 Ast, 2 Stl and 3 blocks. And in these 3 games so far she has yet to turnover the ball. If she can somewhat simulate this with a Gamecock Uniform on this team is going to be extra tough next year.

Cardoso has another solid game in the semifinals of this tournament. In 15 minutes she scored 15 points on 6/8 shooting and I may have jinxed her in that she went 3/6 from the free throw line. She also had one steal, one block and one assist.

I'm not sure if there's any accolades like MVP or tournament team at this event but it appears that Cardoso should be a frontrunner if they do exist leading into the final. Despite only averaging only about 16 minutes, about half as many minutes as the other top players, she top 3 in most stats. I hope this run with her national team can spark some confidence in her game.

Greenville has been good to us over the years....Always love watching Carolina in Greenville...it's only 2 hours from my house in TN to get to the arena in Greenville...

Everyone I talk to, when I mention I am from the Greer area originally, they most always talk about how they love Greenville....I remember when downtown was wretched...then the Hyatt came and BOOM...downtown started to boom...now it's a little slice of southern heaven....

I first saw it in the late 1960s and it was decent because the major department stores were still down there. Of course, those went away over time. But it's amazingly better now than it ever was. That river area is remarkable.

Cardoso and team Brazil wins it in a thriller over Argentina in the South American Cup Championship. It wasn't her best game but enough to clench the win. In 29 minutes she she shot 6/12 and 3/8 from the free throw line for 15 points. She also had 16 rebounds and 3 blocks including a game clenching one to end the game.

She was recognized as a member of the all tournament team and also won as the tournament MVP. One would think this should be a confidence booster for her.

Greenville has done a tremendous job with their handling of tournament games and the feedback from coaches and fans has been extremely positive.
