I can agree with that. UConn used to be invincible and in order to beat them you had to have the right mindset and play a complete game. Part of their dominant streaks was owed to the fear that they brought to their opponents, you we're already down at least 10-15 points before tipoff.

I think Dawn Staley is actually a huge reason why UConn dynasty has fallen. Vic Schaefer and that buzzer beater with Mississippi State stopped their dominance in the NCAA tournament and they deserve a lot of credit as well because it gave more programs the belief that they can be beat.

Where Staley really stopped them is when it comes to the recruiting trail. Our two biggest players in the program in Boston and Wilson absolutely would have continued the dynasty had they chose to go there instead. Since Breanna Stewart graduated, they have yet to recruit a dominant unstoppable post player like them and those two would likely account for an additional 4 more championships for them.

It felt crushing at the time to lose Nelson Ododa to them. But it had to be a big factor in Boston coming here. Who in their right mind would choose Ododa Over Boston today

I saw where the WBB Championship game had a larger audience than the Stanley Cup finals. That is a big reason they decided to make the change, give WBB an opportunity for a larger audience. Although it will never overtake MBB in popularity, the fact that it surpassed the #4 professional sport that has been around nearly 100 years is impressive!

That should end the debate regarding the usual suspects who claim that "nobody cares".

Same here, I thought following our first national championship that both ONO and Christyn Williams were going to stay in the South and play for us. It was frustrating to hear they not only they chose elsewhere but UConn of all places. I really thought we would never be able to compete with them in recruiting and boy was I wrong. I much prefer the pairing of Cooke/Boston who ironically enough weren't even in our region of the country.

Despite popular belief, WBB actually does pretty well when readily available. It'll never compete with football or MBB but it definitely does well enough to warrant this change and a lot more. Hopefully collegiate WBB will listen to Dawn and broker their own TV deal that's separate from the other non-revenue producing sports. There's a lot more money that can be made if they weren't bound to such a terrible deal with 20+ other sports.

Committed to Duke. With what Lawson is assembling, Duke a rising power. ACC is becoming or already is top conference

“ACC becoming or is the top conference”?

That is quite the stretch considering that they finished 4th in the NET conference rankings last year. In ‘21 they finished 5th.

I will agree that more of their teams are doing better at recruiting and has attracted some good coaches to the conference. But let’s not put the cart before the horse.

ACC Has 5 teams in the top 13. The problem with the ACC is not the top half but the bottom half; WFU, BC, CU, Pitt, and UVA are wretched

So how can you say they are the top conference? A conference ranking is all of the teams. They look to have made improvements as indicated by the preseason top 25 poll.

I guess I am more of a prove it to me kind of guy.

Out of curiosity where do you think SEC stands this year? After the top 3 it appears Ark, UF, and UGA are tourney teams but I’m not sure anybody else is

Well; the last 2 seasons, the SEC finished 1st in the NET rankings. Until that is no longer the case, I will say 1st.

I will also add that Tom Crean has that the SEC will have 9 teams in the tournament. The ACC was picked with 8. For the top overall seed, Creen picked us. All that tells me is the SEC is still the best WBB conference.

Charlie creme right? Not the former UGA coach?
I don’t think we get 9 or 8 maybe 7 down year for the bottom half of the league

Given Dawns cryptic tweet a few weeks ago I think we’ve landed 3-4 of the girls on this list. Key work is think tho.

I think we will get 2 to 3 off of the list. Rosario, Fulwiley, and hopefully Booker. Watkins would be nice but have not heard much about her recruiting. I like the games of Prosper and Kitts. Kitts seems to just have an edge about her game that I like.

We need 4 at least, maybe 5

I would be ecstatic about Watkins. She loves DS. She has already signed with Klutch to rep her. Jade Li English is her agent, so that is a big leg up.

I think Fulwiley is a lock, but who knows?
Del Rosario IMO is lynchpin, she guarantees the post for 4 years

I totally agree with you on Kitts

Absolutely love the folks at The Cotton Gin!!
The Tennessee board says she is going on her official to Tennessee this weekend. Maybe there was a little strategy involved there. Wonder if she is coming to Dawns camp?

That would be sweet to get her back on campus! Definitely a strategic move if that’s the case. Love it!!

Saw that. She is sooo tall and large just kills that K state team
Huge loss for them, she's arguably my favorite big that doesn't wear a Gamecock uniform. She had a monster year last season with basically one leg and huge brace. Hopefully she can heal properly and take her game to the next level.

It’s finally here! UCLA is a surprise!

UCLA and BYU are good adds but everything else new is Crap. Clear that teams are avoiding us and that this is not the schedule DS wanted. Only upside, should be a lot of PT for bench and Fr.

Also where is Oregon and big 12 challenge?

Forgot about Oregon and I’m disappointed there isn’t a tournament :(

I expect a boring season of WBB just because we will win them all (ducking Ha). Yes, I will watch. Which games do you think will be exciting?

The only OOC games that still might be in doubt at halftime are BYU and maybe UCLA.

I believe we are not in a tournament because we have played in all the top tourneys in the past 4 years. I believe you can only play in a particular tournament every 5 years, but I could be wrong

How we handle the November 11 game at Maryland will be telling.
Maryland had almost a total roster turnover including 2 guaranteed first rounders Reese and Owusu. They have talent and scorers. Overall very good team height but their post presence is Going to really struggle with us. I expect a double digit win
