149 consi: Tyler Kasak vs. no 17 Graham Rooks, Indiana

First period
Kasak shoots in on Rooks' left leg quickly, picks up on it, and is working on the edge for a takedown, and he finally does as they go off the edge for a 3-0 lead. Kasak starts a ride and both wrestlers end up with stall warnings during it but Kasak rides out the period with 2:06 in riding time.

Second period
Kasak takes neutral. After some early jockeying for position, Kasak shoots and Rooks whizzers and a scramble ensues. Kasak kicks his ankle free comes up through Rooks' legs and gets the takedown, Penn State official account is calling it natural danger takedown. It's 6-0. Indiana is challenging the takedown. When it was called it was maybe questionable but as the wrestling continued it was a clear takedown. But we'll see what the review says. Takedown confirmed. Kasak leads 6-0. He rides out the second.

Third period
Rooks takes neutral. Not much action but then Kasak gets Rooks' left leg and drives through for a takedown and 9-0 lead. The riding time point is now assured. So we're going to call it what it is: 10-0. Rooks escapes to 10-1. Kasak gets a late takedown. He wins 13-1.

Kasak md. Rooks, 13-1. 3:02 in RT.

Now, I am no world expert but to me so far Aaron Brooks looks like he is in a separate higher league vs his opponents. Pretty cool considering he has moved up a weight class this year. Last season I felt he was coasting a bit but then he turned up another gear in the Big 10s and NCAAs. This year he just is so quick, so strong, so powerful, and so agile. A rare talent. Now Carter-what guts!! And what a team PSU has

For those wondering Iowa fans on the HR board are having their annual meltdown about their program. Anyone familiar with that place already knows the talking points they are all spewing as they cry themselves into another Friday night disappointment. Sometimes life sucks and sometimes life is great but either way you can still feel better about your life by going over there to watch horrible fans lose their minds on a cesspool of a message board. Thanks Iowa. Thanks.

Gap from #1 to #2 after three sessions:

2024: 86.5 - 50.5 (36)
2023: 78 - 48 (30)
2022: 73 - 62.5 (10.5)
2021: 73.5 - 57.5 (16)
2019: 80 - 66.5 (13.5)
2018: 80.5 - 67 (23.5)
2017: 74 - 59 (15)

Competition has regressed over the years while PSU accelerates! That’s the name of the game.

Rec'd but points deducted for improper spelling of I0wa - they earned the 0 after last season's football game against us and for their inability to generate 25 ppg, to save Brian Ferentz's job.

I have noted this correction to the spelling of I0wa. Thank you.

Does anyone know what mat Kasak was on when he got the pin? Looks like ESPN has them archived, so just need to know which 4+ hour replay to click on.
