I believe that the Penguins are 18-12-9 so far this season, which isn't bad for a team thats rebuilding and has played a bunch of rookies.
Also, hopefully PSU plays better in the second half of the season than they did in the first half when they looked completely outclassed by MSU and Michigan.
Teams lose, they have bad nights, kids get hurt, vulcanized rubber bounces funny.
Was Sparty outclassed by New Hampshire?
Was Wisky outclassed by tOSU at home by 5 goals?
Was UM outclassed by Western Michigan?
Was Denver outclassed by Maine last night?
This is college hockey. Nobody goes undefeated. PSU had two bad nights in two months of hockey.
Since PSU last played, they’ve moved up two spots in NPI. They are closer to No. 2 than No. 10.
You seem like the kind of chap that has a need to be right about everything. News flash: you’re not and no one is.
Another news flash: PSU will almost certainly not have as good of a record Jan-March 2026 as it did Jan-March 2025. They will not sneak up on anyone. They are the hunted. It will be a brawl all the way to the B1G tournament and hopefully beyond. And the 18 year old is quite good, but the B1G ain’t some junior league. Nobody puts up video game stats like in juniors.
Final new flash: RIT likely poses a threat the next two nights, for many reasons, mostly due to us missing the 18 year old and having five other guys 48 hours from a redeye flight from Switzerland. And if you don’t believe any of this, just look at last night: NoDak beat Mercyhurst 2-0. Second ranked team against dead last, by far. Mercyhurst gave up 18 goals to UM, 14 to Bob Morris and 13 to the Buckeyes.
I’m just hoping for a healthy team all the way to the end, because I think they have the talent and coaching to win a title. But I’m realistic enough to acknowledge that there are three other teams in the B1G in the exact same situation. Anything can happen on any given night. Just enjoy the show without the massive negativity.
