This whole university and fanbase are a damn joke these days. You will excuse Jans to the end but want to run a damn national championship winning coach out AFTER winning 20 league games last year. MSU is a damn clown program.
Right because AFTER lemonis won the NC, he turned in two consecutive single digit SEC win seasons. Prior to Jans arrival MSU basketball went to the NCAAT just ONCE in seven years. AFTER his arrival we have gone 3 consecutive seasons for the first time in our history. See the difference?

if you get to the tournament 3 years in a row, you're doing a pretty good job overall.
Honest question pat from someone who doesn't know much about basketball: In the era of NIL, is an SEC team just making the tournament anything special? 14 of the 16 made it this year. The rosters are bought more then they are recruited. Couldn't basically any college level coach make the tournament if you gave him millions of SEC dollars to spend on a roster? 68 teams in tournament (roughly 19% of all D1 teams). An SEC team making the tournament in the NIL era just seems like the bare minimum.

Those are good questions. I don't know that I have any good answers.

The SEC is spending far and away more money than anyone else on basketball. There was a story on On3 earlier in the week interviewing anonymously D1 basketball coaches and they were all nearly unanimous in saying that the SEC is outspending everyone else. One coach even said that so far during this recruiting cycle Texas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State were throwing more money around than anyone else. (Yes you read that right).

We need to ask for a refund.

I am curious to see how common of an occurrence this is now. The SEC was not as strong in his first two years so in those years yes, I would say making the tournament was definitely an accomplishment. Especially his first year. This year, I do understand the argument that just making it does not make you special.

I still think great to elite coaches make a difference. As much as I can't stand these guys Will Wade, Chris Beard and even Cal are over achieving in different ways. I even put Jans in that category although he seems to be better suited focusing on D and finding O. There is nothing wrong with that just see Bobby Huggins coaching career.

Write down 5 things you did today to help win this game.***
My post was a simple observance of the current state of the total athletic program at MSU. My ties run deep and go back probably before you were born.
What could I have done to “help win this game”? It’s not my responsibility to help them win games. I simply said they are employees. They are getting paid. You know that right?
At MSU, our Football, Baseball and Basketball programs are a laughing stock. We are therefore a laughing stock.
If you watched the last games of the basketball season, you can’t tell me that you thought we would win our 1st NCAA game since 08 today with this team.
Did you see it coming? If so, write down five things you did to help them win this game.
I’ll hang up and listen sir.

Thank you. I’m more of a Twix guy myself. I’ve always read this forum and seldom post. But the frustration of…
Oh well, not beating a dead horse.
I love this forum. You guys are very funny and at the same time usually pretty accurate. I missed the sarcasm, sorry for misinterpreting your reply.
Carry on! And Hail State!
