They seem to be an aging team with well-established weaknesses that continues to fall off from two years ago.Phillies look a tired team playing in the middle of August. No life at all.
Fixed, ffs. Please God, don’t let the Phillies get swept by the Mets. I’ll do anything, except give LionJim his delete button.
That will solve everything! Franklin to the Phils! This team is dead in the water and drowning fast. Can’t hit can’t pitch can’t win. I predict Thomson will be canned very soon.
The front office had all year to fix that bullpen issueCorky Romano again. This team is on the fast track to third place in the NL East.
Rude… the new guy will still have the same crappy bullpenAnd…. Lose it in the bottom of the 10th. Romano blows. Castellanos tried to score from
Second earlier and that was a fail. Mets got away with some bs in the 10th with Diaz walking off the mound a third time before waving to dugout about an injury. That was a balk. Thomson on the hot seat now.
Lets see what they do facing a high octane offense in the Cubs.View attachment 793123
2 thru 5 hitters went 4 for 45 in this series.Phils with 3 runs on 16 hits in the last 2 games so far. That's some bad cluster luck.
Not sure what this has to do with my post.2 thru 5 hitters went 4 for 45 in this series.
Thompson must be trying to get fired bringing Romano in for the 10th.
Either that or he’s betting on games he’s managing because it sure looked like he wanted to lose that game.

Tom, from my post above, the Phillies have a .500 record since last July! That ain’t getting it done.I don't know that he had a lot of options. Sanchez coming out after 2 innings in Tuesday's game caused the bullpen to be taxed. Ross pitched 3 innings in that game, Romano pitched 1 inning, Banks pitched 2/10ths of an inning, Kerkering had his worst outing of the season on 1/10th of an inning, and Hernandez pitched 1 inning.
It seemed that Topper wanted a righty to pitch the 10th inning. From a roster perspective, the options were: Hernandez, Kerkering, Romano, Ross, and Ruiz. Ross was probably unavailable after pitching 3 innings on Tues., and Kerkering probably needed a reset after Tuesday's outing. Of the other options, Hernandez's ERA is 7.88 this season, Romano's ERA is 13.50 this season, and Ruiz's ERA is 6.75 this season. Romano's stats are the worst of the 3 guys listed, but all 3 have terrible ERAs. And as @PSUAVLNC pointed out, Romano wasn't exactly getting crushed today.
Certainly a disappointing series, but too many of you are going a little bit overboard in your reactions. Topper is certainly not on the hot seat. The Fightins were getting really good swings against Peterson today (crushing pitches, at times), and kept hitting at people. I'm not happy with how the Fightins' played this week, but I never make evaluations of a team based on a series in April.
