While the Phillies have had good luck against Alcantara, it’s sad to see him struggle after Tommy John surgery. I hope he can recapture his Cy Young form. It’s good for the game.

Hmmm. I get someone being competitive and wanting to stay in the game. OTOH, spazzing out isn’t a good response. I doubt we’ll ever know what he said or who he said it to. Maybe behind the scenes Thomson felt the team wasn’t as focused as it should be and saw an opportunity to get everyone pulling in the same direction. After all, there is only one boss in the dugout.

Stotter needed that boost. It was great to see him and Casty be a big part of the win. And Ranger has settled into a highly productive roll right now. 2.20 ERA. En fuego.

A big series with the Mets is coming after today’s extra game in Miami.

an interesting move. Wilson gave them more fielder flexibility, as he could play OF and INF. By contrast, Kennedy pretty much plays 3B and 1B, and that's where Otto Kemp has been playing while Harper is out. Wilson has been a good hitter in past seasons, but has been struggling both with power and with average this season. The Fightins have been struggling (overall, and especially without Harper) for offense, and Kennedy has done pretty well (283/.388/.447 with eight home runs and 40 RBI in 268 plate appearances) this season for the Iron Pigs. So it appears to be a move to increase the offense, even if it costs them some defensive flexibility.

When does Harper return??!

undetermined.

Before Wednesday's game, Topper indicated that Harper, who is back in Philadelphia, is getting close to throwing. Since he went on the injury list on 6/7, he has only progressed to fielding practice (minus his throwing). He's yet to throw, and yet to swing a bat.

The wrist inflammation has been bothering him since last season, so I guess they are being cautious in his rehab.

I believe he was placed on the 10-day injured list on 6/7, with the designation being retroactive to 6/6. I guess it was extended when he reached 10 days, but I haven't seen an official designation.
