What a shame, come all the way back to loseDiamondbacks score 3 in the top of the 10th, Fightins score 1 in the bottom of the 10th. smh
Alvarado pitched very poorly. That surprised me. Had we got one base runner ahead of Schwarbers HR we win. Tough game to lose. What a shame, come all the way back to lose
If only someone (JT) got a hit in the bottomAlvarado pitched very poorly. That surprised me. Had we got one base runner ahead of Schwarbers HR we win. Tough game to lose.
So you really believe I haven’t been watching?!Looks like @rudedude is the McAndrew Board’s equivalent to Annie Savoy in “Bull Durham.” (She couldn’t get any sex because it might screw up the team’s winning streak.)
From when I was a kid watching games, I seem to remember the three-inning save as being more prevalent then. It wasn't common but it wasn't unusual either especially in situations like Walker's. Of course, that was before specialization when there was a role for long relievers. Nowadays if a relief pitcher goes more than one inning it's noteworthy. My guess is the three-inning save was implemented to reward the reliever for pitching 33% of the game. That's a lot of work for a guy to get nothing.Sentiment and nod to Walker acknowledged. That said, didn't initially click why this qualifies as a save considering his entry was apparently in the 7th inning at which time the Phillies already had a 7 run lead...apparently because he "pitched at least 3 innings" despite the lead. Surprisingly, but honestly, had never heard of that LOL.
Would have been a nice trip to go down to this series in that park. It’s fun watching a ball game in George Steinbrenner Stadium. Wish I could get down there.
