Since you have now mentioned it twice now, I looked the meaning of it up. My thought was it meant of Italian descent and a thug type. Which Ferarri checks both boxes. Had I known it was considered derogatory, I would not have used it. Hope that clears it up if you think to bring it up again in the future.
You know what you're doing. Stop backtracking. Of all the words in the italian dictionary you had to use goomba? It is definitely insulting to an italian. I already told you I had no problem with it and you had a pass. You said dago , wop , or guinea then that's a major problem. My point was that,I didn't say any type of black slur. I just made an assumption. Was it wrong ...maybe? But the fact that your buddy Came at me for that , but didn't go after you for actually saying something derogatory and racist, is what aggravates me. Anyway , I don't wanna beat a dead horse. People don't want to hear this. They want to talk about wrestling. It's a dead issue.

It would make sense for Smith. If know is a career 125 Smith will have nowhere to go. He's already small for 125, no way he can go 133.
I don't see an upside with smith. Maybe others do , but I just feel like he's very one dimensional. He does straightforward attacking and is not very elusive or funky. If you're not big for your weight class and strong, that straightforward attacking, absolutely does not work. I'd be more concerned with gibson leaving. In a perfect world , if we have knox at 25, Davis (wishful thinking)at 33, Magro or Harer at 41 and 49, we would be stacked.

How could it not be derogatory, and so what. It doesn't insult other than the thugs that deserve no respect. Many nationalities have names for their thugs and such.

If Gibson can go 141 then Smith can try 133… I mean, realistically, I think they both will wrestle off for 133 and may the best man win. We also have like 3-4 incoming good 113 pounds recruits.. where are they all going to go if Knox stays 125?

Crookham in the portal from Lehigh..
Iowa is going to throw the most money at him and he doesn’t really fit at ok state , Penn State, Virginia Tech and Ohio State

I could see nc state or ISU making a run but we do have the Lehigh valley connection with Labriola , Sasso and Mytych plus Knox as a training partner and I think him leaving is more about training situation then taking the biggest $$$ thrown at him

well also have success dealing with crazy wrestling dads

Wouldn't be surprised if Sontz decommitted too.If we got Stanich and Davis, Id put the farm on it we could get Sontz.
I don’t see Sontz de-committing and if he did would likely go Ivy as long as the academics aren’t an issue. Vtech was a finalist but now they have Colluccio.

Anyone have intel on why? He’s a local legend. Too many injuries? Needs big bag of cash?

i can see Pitt throwing a bunch of $$$ at crookham especially now that the lost Karson Brown.

Injuries, his father disagreement with Santoro about training and possibly him wanting to move up to 141 and Stanich being in the way

Smith can try 133 but he’s tiny for 125, so I don’t see that going well.

I don’t think Gibson is the answer at 141. Maybe he would be better at 133.

Everyone knows Smith is small for 125.. seems like most are on the ship of Smith shouldn’t even bother in trying 133 if Knox goes 125.

No doubt Gibson would be better at 133.. he looked outsized every match.. not sure why he was even going 141.. having Smith push Gibson for 133 spot would be better for both imo but maybe you guys right.. Smith too small, don’t even bother trying 133. Either way, not sure if we have a NQ at 133 rn..

Would you think Gibson would be that much better at 133? I saw nothing from him that says he's the guy going forward. I really want to see how magro does next year... and ford. There's been talks that jimmy mullen is going to leave virginia tech. Would love to get him if that's true. We really have to work on strength training. We need a solid strength coach that is a custom to creating workouts that are wrestling specific.

Not sure how Gibson would do at 133 but don’t think he’s right at 141.. id guess at 133 maybe he can be a NQ but that’s going to be a really deep weight class so who knows. I would say if Smith tried 133 he would have a chance to win the spot but who knows, seems like people prefer him to not even try. I like Ford, think he got real potential to maybe eventually AA, not really sure about Magro but u seem pretty high on him.

Rutgers was Mullen’s second choice after he chose VT. So if Mullen does leave VT I’d imagine we would be high on his list considering we really need a good HWT as well.

I like what I saw from Gibson. He was aggressive and took shots. Unfortunately he was countered pretty easily and got overmatched physically at times.

Not seeing it at all with him. Even going up he should not have lost to the kids with losing records that he did. He lost to a kid that got pulled from the lineup for giving up too many bonus points. Now Ford you can see the potential.

Lehigh’s Crookham announced he is entering the portal. Imagine Knox and him opening dual meets and the NCAAs!
Any real chance of us landing Crookham?? Don’t really wanna spend time imagining if there’s no chance lol but that would be quite the 1-2 punch…. Brings back the good ol days of having both Suriano and Ash in the lineup…

I don’t see why not. We have the lehigh valley connection, the flexibility to let him go 133/141 whatever he wants, I’m sure we’ll accommodate his fathers demands to an extent Goodale is good with managing that I think we could be in the mix if we choose to be.
Our biggest competition is Iowa they are going to be all over him but he’s a guy with an injury history probably not best to go to the school that overtrains guys into dust and has a ton of injuries every year and don’t bend their training methods for anyone.

Would also have an elite training partner in Knox.

Do we actually really have a chance of getting him? I actually think him and his dad will fit perfect in our culture. Plus he will have knox as a training partner. If this is the case , we really need to go in a hundred percent on this kid. Give them whatever he wants and get him on campus. I think iowa would be a very bad move for them.

He's also already graduated with a degree in finance. He's looking to go to grad school and compete elsewhere since he has eligibility remaining due to numerous injuries. Iowa has no succession plan for Ayala at 133, so he slides in there easily. But Iowa's training is tough on even the most durable wrestlers. I'm not sure if his body can hold up there.

To that point Iowa wrestlers are always injured. In that respects , goody is very good at keeping kids healthy. Brands just uses you as a piece of meat. Plus we have a hell of a lot better MBA program than iowa. Crookhams dad and Knoxs father will be a marriage maid in heaven.

That works into Rutgers favor. Rutgers has one of the best grad schools in the country, Iowa isn't even on the same planet when it comes to that. It's the main reason Shane Griffith gave Rutgers the time of the day before Michigan backed up the brinks truck. Also, before the NIL douchebaggyness, football was getting top grad transfers every year. So, we might not have to meet Iowa money merely get in the ballpark.

its wasn’t the $$ that got Griffith it was the appeal of winning a team trophy plus thengrad school had exactly what he was looking for.

Money may be a factor in the end but Crookham isn’t transferring because hes looking for a payday. He is going to go to the best fit not the highest bidder

Crookham will get paid by a top program - doubt he would give RU a sniff unless there is some other angle.
