It wasn't a fit based on Feuerbach and Stremlow...you know, two players that would be affected by any guard signed.😟
Oh, and apparently JJ was getting advice from some parents.

Fvcking ridiculous if all true.

Lute Olson operated the same way. The existing roster had veto power over recruits. Joe Barry Carroll, later Purdue All American and #1 player picked in the NBA draft, was vetoed by the Iowa players who thought he would be a bad fit. Nothing surprising about Jan deferring to the team, if in fact that’s what happened.

You literally think Geno never asked Sue Bird or Stewie or Paige what they thought of a recruit?? Don’t be naive. You don’t know a fourth of what you think you do about running a program. I’m embarrassed for you.
And you know more than the Iowa coaches and you were upset because they didn't pursue Averie Lower.

Your hypocrisy is humorous.
Can't make this shiit up.🤣

And how did the rest of the team play in those losses. like the west coast trip? Like crap right. It must have been Deal, That probably while Kylie didnt score a point in the NCAA tournament as well....

Really? Well hopefully it won't be when she's playing against us...
Tommy Boy is confused!

Jan may have let the seniors dictate too much. Hannah could not adapt to a true 4, did not do the work over the summer, Kylie and Taylor were one dimension players with weaknesses. Jan rode those players and Ava way too much. The bench was invisible by the end of season. Even Levin could have played more.
Careful. JJ's decisions can't be questioned.

You have an agenda as well? Pot meet kettle. You constantly are defending her. If you take the position it comes with criticism.
No, I don’t. Nothing close to the guys talking out of their a s s e s every time something goes against JJ. I just understand basketball and coaching better than you do.

When I posted that…and you can go back and look because Anon clearly didn’t…I didn’t know she was no longer a Hawkeye. I was reading through the thread and posted a response.

You didn’t respond to what was being discussed. You think Geno and other coaches didn’t talk to their players before offering a kid? You can’t be this dumb. I don’t know more than Jan, since you asked, but 💯 I know more than you do.

All recruits (and players for that matter) need to earn their playing time. I think Woliczko will earn it in preseason practice and non-conference games. She has too much talent not too.
Never know. It's a big jump from high school to playing the physicality of the conference. Woliczko is a very different player than Stuelke. Fans already assume she is an alpha-dawg star, and that again may be a problem of expectations.

Is Iowa expected to *not* pursue good players to compete? Again, presents another problem of fans wanting things both ways.

If Jensen continues pounding the ball inside her tenure might be short-lived because good guards want some freedom to create. JMO
Jan's offense is a lot like Lisa's. She doesn't have a CC or Doe Eyes to space the floor. Bluder loved to pound it inside, she had multiple all Big Ten guards. We need more consistent three point shooters other than Chit Chat.

So...you're pleading "ignorance" or "confusion"?

Log out for tonite and try again tomorrow!
TIA
Dude. Look at the thread. Go back and look what I responded to. Look where it was in the thread. It’s pretty simple. Don’t be an idiot your whole life. I’m so tired of the willful ignorance on this site. JFC.

Players are going to have the best finger on the pulse of the team's chemistry and culture. Nothing wrong with a HC deferring to them on a decision like that. Hell Herb Brooks listened to his players when he was thinking of adding Tim Harrer to the 1980 US hockey team late in the process, they said they already had built their bond as a team and cutting someone to add Harrer would disrupt it.

Deal is leaving. You stated you hope she lives up to her rating.

You drunk, Clark?

In post 330 Tom obviously didn't know Deal was leaving. Three minutes later post 332 he posted news that Deal was entering the portal. Anyone with a sound mind would be able to see what happened, but as usual you jump to stupid conclusions and end up making yourself look stupid.

This is exactly right and I doubt there are more than a couple on here that are aware of that. Lisa Bluder did the same. That's how you build a team instead of just a group of players.

ThisWhere is this big drop off coming from? In conference play the only player leaving that scored more than a handful of points is Hannah. KF was a good defender but no bueno on the offensive end and McCabe was out with an injury for most of conference play. You have 3 sophomores and 2 freshmen returning who generated 70% of the points and assists, and 2 of those were coming off the bench. You have a 5 star talent in Woliczko coming in on top of that. Jan needs another guard or 2 for sure, but the returning production looks a lot like it was this past year.

Ladies will be fine. Get a couple transfer guards who can hit the 3 ball and create a bit. MW coming in as well. Damn guys let’s keep a little optimism going here…

The story I heard back in the day was that one of the Iowa players punched out Carroll in the Field House bar during his visit. Carroll still wanted to come to Iowa but the players didn't want him, so Lute passed.

Uh..how many transfers do we need this year now?! I feel like we need 5-6 at least considering Emely and a couple other players may enter the portal and Callie and Addie are already in the portal.

LOLOLOLOL...

At 5:14PM, a "Deal in the portal" thread is started.
At 6:46PM, Tommy Boy posts about hoping lives up to her rating.
At 6:49PM, Tommy Boy pretends he didn't know Deal is leaving.
At 6:59PM, I make the observation that Tommy Boy is a lost soul.
At 8:51PM, You try and come and rescue Tommy Boy from ridicule.
And here we are...you and Tommy Boy both come across as dunces that are pissed that I'm pointing out your hypocrisy and lies.

Carry on. It's very entertaining.
