His hand was on the mat

See, that's something refs always laugh about. Somebody quotes to them a rule, or points out something that used to be a rule, but in both cases it's no longer a rule.

For a few years, in college (not HS), if the defensive wrestler's hand touched while the offensive wrestler was behind him, it was a TD.

That rule was changed a few years ago.

For a hand touch to become a TD, the defensive wrestler has to keep the hand on the mat, and use it as a support point. Welsh didn't do that in that sequence, so no TD.

You're speaking like a FANatic. There is not a crisis in officiating -- not even close. These calls are not that difficult, and the refs making them are the elite of the elite.

As I said in an earlier reply, by the rules it was not a TD.

If you ref enough, the entire sequence plays out in slow motion, and you see if the critical criteria are met. There was not a TD before time ran out.
You’re blind. That’s been a takedown in college wrestling for 50 years until those idiots decided to reinterpret reaction time this year to mean 2 full seconds so they never have to make a tough call because they’re cowards who are bad at their job.

You are right that was consistent with how’s that’s been called this year. It’s been called wrong all year and it’s killing the ******* sport. Makes me sick.

What wasn’t consistent was the ref letting Haines walk straight out of bounds no call and then calling McEnelly on the same thing in the next match (if you want evidence of inconsistency).

What do you want us fans, to do about a call that was called the same way all year. I figure it's going to be called out in rule changes or clarifications next year. Levi could have been called for stalling earlier, sure. Maybe Minto shouldn't have figure four the head?

Someone earlier brought up split vote. Well....the way I see it, the only way Mendez could even be considered the #2 in the Hodge race right now is Mitch taking some votes from Barr. It's 1 Mitch, 2 Barr and then 3 Jesse. Maybe Ohio State can advertise some more camps with Win Magazine to change that...

How do you really feel….lol

It will be reactions like this that turn everything over to AI in this world. Live with the human error or soon there won’t be humans to error.

Simple question: what happens to Welsh if you take away that hand in that second. Does he fall on his face or does he magically levitate?

People with your mindset are killing the sport. This really isn’t about PSU at this point. It’s about the state of the sport. This is just one example out of a hundred this year where those idiots are butchering the sport.

The rule is no longer hands on the mat but it now allows for an undisclosed amount of reaction time. That seems to change from .5 to 2 full seconds.
Nobody knows what the hell reaction time is and you goofs act like it’s great when it goes in our favor and it’s the worst rule ever when it goes against us. Admit it’s bullcrap

Just wanted to highlight this for any time the HR brainiacs claim Tom has a trigger finger on the ban hammer.

No way anyone says this to one of the HR mods and keeps his account. Emotions running high or otherwise.
