The Iowa frustration and tears are sweet as honey.
You'd think JS would know better. Tge only reason I even cared who ended up winning that match is so Rocco could reach a goal and enjoy it. Anyone looking at it know the seeding at that weight doesn't mean ****. It's gonna be a dog fight for all of them regardless of how they are all seeded. Hell....this is one of the very few tourneys in a long time that I that I don't care where our guys are seeded. I just don't.

How do you really feel….lol

It will be reactions like this that turn everything over to AI in this world. Live with the human error or soon there won’t be humans to error.
This problem is happening precisely because the officials DONT want to live with human error. They’re trying to legislate tough calls out of the sport. That’s why we have the edge stall rules which suck. It’s why they’ve expanded reaction time to the point if the call is even close they can just say “reaction time” a punt on it.

They’re afraid of being yelled at. They’re afraid to do their jobs and that makes them unqualified to continue.

Do we really want to live in the world where you can plant someone on their shoulder with a mat return with a second left on the clock and it not be a takedown because of some theoretical reaction time that very clearly had no effect on the position? It helped you guys today. It might cost you a title tomorrow. So just evaluate it on the actual merits.

You’re not going to convince me that a guy who has never taken Blaze down is a bad matchup for him. And 1 “Hail Mary” takedown for Marcus > zero takedowns of any kind for Davino.
It’s ok. You can have your opinion. I can have mine. It’s a really bad match up for Marcus.

Someone earlier brought up split vote. Well....the way I see it, the only way Mendez could even be considered the #2 in the Hodge race right now is Mitch taking some votes from Barr. It's 1 Mitch, 2 Barr and then 3 Jesse. Maybe Ohio State can advertise some more camps with Win Magazine to change that...
Yeah I see a lot of people saying Mendez is a given. Why?

He’s losing bonus race to MM and JB now by a mile, no?

Just wanted to highlight this for any time the HR brainiacs claim Tom has a trigger finger on the ban hammer.

No way anyone says this to one of the HR mods and keeps his account. Emotions running high or otherwise.
Who cares? If he wants to be a coward and ban me he can do it.

Most of you should know I’m not here to troll. I was defending Haines as a deserving winner 15 minutes ago on HR. This is much bigger than PSU. The sport is in crisis.

Simple question: what happens to Welsh if you take away that hand in that second. Does he fall on his face or does he magically levitate?

People with your mindset are killing the sport. This really isn’t about PSU at this point. It’s about the state of the sport. This is just one example out of a hundred this year where those idiots are butchering the sport.

Well, then it's a good thing you're not a ref, because it wasn't even 1% a support point THAT WAS HELD AND USED TO SUPPORT.

If you can't see that, then I can't help you.
What happens if you take away Welsh’s arm there? Does he fall on his face or somehow levitate without the SUPPORT of his hand?

The only way he was able to react was because he had that support point down.

285 Final- #1 Taye Ghadiali (MI) vs. #2 AJ Ferrari (NEB)

Period 1:
There's no Cole, so here's the 285 final. Not much action through the first couple minutes. Lots of circling, tying up & hand fighting so far. AJ shoots, but can't get there. Ghadiali counters, but no luck. Back to tying up & circling. AJ drops to a leg, but Ghadiali fights him off. Tying up & pushing to end the period. 0-0

Period 2:
Ghadiali takes down. He works to a quadpod, but AJ brings him back to the Resilite. Ghadiali works back to a quadpod, but not for long. AJ gets Ghadiali bellied out on the edge. Out of bounds & restart. Ghadiali is still down. AJ rides Ghadiali around the mat. Ghadiali rolls, but can't get away. Michigan throws the brick & is looking for locked hands.

Challenge lost, the score stays 0-0. Back to action. Ghadiali is still down. Ghadiali sits out, but AJ stays with him. Ghadiali gets to his feet, but AJ drops to a leg & drives him out, restart. Ghadiali is still down. AJ goes over 1-min of RT. Ghadiali works to his feet, but AJ trips him back to the Resilite. Ghadiali turns, but AJ gets a leg. AJ gets a stall call, then brings Ghadiali back down to the mat. Ghadiali gets a stall warning too. AJ rides out the period. 0-0, AJ +1:57 RT (AJ lost 3-sec of RT when he got hit for stalling)

Period 3:
AJ takes down. He works to his feet & gets the escape, 1-0. AJ still has 1:46 in riding time. Collar ties & pushing in the center. AJ shoots & gets to a leg. Ghadiali counters. AJ re-counters & they go out of bounds, neutral restart. Ghadiali pushes forward taking AJ to the edge. AJ circles around the edge & drops to his knees. AJ grabs a leg. Ghadiali is trying to work behind & then he does. Ghadiali gets the TD, 3-1. Wow! Great effort by Ghadiali. AJ gets another stall call, point Ghadiali, 4-1. AJ is down injured now. Manning doesn't look happy.

Back to action. AJ has riding time locked up, 18-sec left. Ghadiali takes down on the restart. AJ concedes the escape, 5-1, neutral start. AJ shoots, but Ghadiali blocks him off. AJ keeps coming, but can't find an opening & time expires. AJ adds a RT point, 5-2, but that doesn't matter. What a comeback by Ghadiali!

Taye Ghadiali DEC AJ Ferrari 5-2

Ghadiali takes 1st Place!

That's all folks.gif

This is a wrestling forum and we can just disagree..
Js wasn’t being a dick just stating his opinion.
A ban or warning is weak sauce..
Make a good point and argue with him..
I think he’s right on a broad scale but he missed the mark on this instance

The plant on the mat return was ruled after time expired, not that it wouldn’t have been a takedown if time was still there. I think you’re not arguing what you think you’re arguing.

You’re blind. That’s been a takedown in college wrestling for 50 years until those idiots decided to reinterpret reaction time this year to mean 2 full seconds so they never have to make a tough call because they’re cowards who are bad at their job.

You are right that was consistent with how’s that’s been called this year. It’s been called wrong all year and it’s killing the ******* sport. Makes me sick.

What wasn’t consistent was the ref letting Haines walk straight out of bounds no call and then calling McEnelly on the same thing in the next match (if you want evidence of inconsistency).

Wow, how original. That's so insightful, and creative. Refs are constantly being called blind by fans in the stands. As a ref, you learn to laugh about it, as it quickly proves how little the person calling it out is.

The rest of your post is just nonsense.

1. it hasn't been a TD for 50 years
2. the refs didn't reinterpret anything
3. the call has been CORRECT all year
4. sorry if you don't like the rules, but the rules as written and as called are not killing the sport
5. you are comparing the sequence with Haines and the sequence with McEnelly as identical? Thanks for providing me with a chuckle. As refs like to say when we are in training or discussing things, no two situations are identical. Each is unique, and must be called based on what transpires

I'm done responding to you. I try to assist folks in understanding the rules. If they chose to disagree with the rules and make disparaging comments about me, then I'm wasting my time.

I know it’s impossible for you to think outside of blind team loyalty so you wouldn’t understand.

I don’t even care about the hawks much anymore. Not fun to watch and not competitive. This isn’t about PSU hate. Clearly the best program of all time and a joy to watch wrestle. This was just a breaking point after an entire season of this mess with the officials.

I agree 100% with your thoughts but we can't want matches decided by what we want rather than the stated rules. I liked the old rule, but we would be in even a worse situation if some of the refs decided to ignore the new rule and just defer to the old "better" rule. I still want a 3 point reversal, a zero point escape, and a push out rule, but it wouldn't be great if I started officiating and just enforced my desires. The rules people need to have some balls.

You do realize Blaze has a 3-2 record against Davino. Blaze definitely didn’t deserve to win today. I think he will have a different game plan if they meet again
I don’t care about freestyle. I can have my opinion. I’m a PSU fan and I don’t want them in semis together.

Initial look at NCAA seeds:
Lilledahl - 1
Blaze - 3 or 4
Davis - guessing 10-15, need to see final coaches poll
Van Ness - 1
Duke - 1
Mesenbrink - 1
Levi - 1
Welsh - 1
Barr - 1
Mirasola - probably 9-10, need to see final coaches poll

We're getting 7 (!) #1 seeds out of 10 weights.

Yeah, okay. Get a bit of knowledge. Other teams, specifically, tOSU should be on a National Championship run this year. Give the other sides some credit. They show up, and they are phenomenal wrestlers. Take your ok dude and shove it.
21 Guns. Is that you? Welcome back. You were right when you insisted we need 8 scoring wrestlers. That really turned things around for the team. 😘
