So sorry, but it sounds like a character in the movie Boogie Nights.
Why do I see just another portal entry in a year? History says the kid won’t play with yet another portal qb coming in.
I’m not sure HS QB’s have much of a shot in P4. Barring injuries of course.
They need go where they can play, get some experience, then get recruited to the big time.

I don’t know what this means as I don’t follow Tennessee.
I do know I’ve seen little, very little, of any second string QB’s here under CJB. Regardless their “rating” coming in.
The only info we’ve gotten on most of them is “So-and-so has just entered the portal” right after we get, yet another, seasoned portal QB.
I agree Rollem, the exception to the rule exists, but it would be very interesting to analyze the 60+ power 4 programs and who the starter was this year. Transfer, grew within program, etc. Hell just look at the ACC......there were 3 maybe 4 QBs in the league that was recruited and played for their school.
Now if a kid is expecting to come in and learn for 2-3 years and grow into the starter then great, but those days are long gone for the most part!

Was he a true Freshman or Red Shirt? I’m pretty sure was a high 5 star like top player in the country type coming in. So he’s kinda the exception… not the norm
I would LOVE to have recruited QB’s lined up to “wait their turn” and just plug in a “know the system” QB every year.
But today, when $$$$$$$$ is at stake? It’s a pipe dream.
Gotta play early, even if it’s on the cheap, so they can have a shot at bigger money in a year or two.
Nobody but the Portal QB plays here, and we “assume” it’s because nobody else is “ready”.
Bailey was “ready” enough for the bowl game to get a shot at some money.
