A lengthy but interesting read regarding the Patterson vs. NCAA lawsuit.

What do Matt Campbell, Rocco Becht and Ethan Grunkemeyer do if Drew Allar decides to return? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤔
I dont think PSU is under any obligation to him. I get the sense he is more loyal to Franklin than to PSU, so perhaps there will be a spot for him at VT. His time here is up, thank you Drew, and good luck.

After seeing many misses with 4/5 star guys, I’ll take 6’7 300
Agree. He’s from Columbus. Hopefully, he plays with a big chip on his shoulder for not being recruited by OSU. I really hope he exceeds expectations, but he isn’t rated very high at all among players in OH or his position.

Great size and was a TE so he moves well and has decent hands. I like the pick up. I know many poo poo the bringing in of ISU recruits but with the amount of high end misses recently and the need for a lot of portal players, these have been solid guys to bring with coach

We will need bodies with upside and if CMC likes these players than great. We just also need some higher rated players too - whether via HS recruiting or the portal - if we want to be competitive with top teams. Are there any recruits we have a shot with from (say) Michigan's recruiting class?

Bottom line is that Campbell needed to make these recruiting moves because of inheriting a program without a 2026 recruiting class. I hope these guys all contribute and exceed expectations. I’ll be rooting for them all because they chose to come to PSU and are excited about it. Campbell will, however, need to have blue chip recruits in the recruiting classes going forward if he expects to compete in the B1G.

27 will need to be a great class for sure and they are in on a lot of big time kids

Did something happen to the Lackawanna to PSU recruiting pipeline or haven't there been any decent LJC players?

Campbell might turn out to be one of the best coaches ever. Time will tell.

Some things are scary though:
  • We're trading in the highest paid assistant coaches with experience at places like Kansas & OSU for much lower paid and less sought after assistant coaches from Iowa State. Were we getting screwed or are we accepting lower level assistants?
  • One of the things I didn't like about OBrien was that he didn't want to be here. He just used us as a stepping stone to an NFK HC position. On the other hand Campbell seems elated to be at a big time university like PSU and IMO that's a big plus. The problem is he can't say he coached in the NFL or that he coached Tom Brady. Campbell can talk about Purdy but he can't boast about coaching very many players to the NFL. His absolute awe of the All American plaques is heartwarming but it shows that he's never been to this level. Is his reputation strong enough to bring in the players we need? So far we got a safety that was ranked 905 nationally.
Are you sure your handle isn't @Nitpicker ? How do you know we're accepting "lower level assistants"? And Campbell didn't coach in the NFL? Oh, my! I'll never forgive him for that. Patience, my man, patience.

I'm willing to wait and see what happens. Until the 2026 team hits the field we won't know, there will be the usual hype this spring and summer. Respect is earned, let him have a chance to earn it. Changing HC's at PSU is a traumatic experience, we don't make changes very often. It will be interesting to see how the portal is approached by the new staff.
