Man, the more I hear from insiders about the development of the players the staff brought in, the more I trust their process. Just take this new video by Landon Tengwall. The whole thing is worth a listen but especially 21:57:



So, we’re all rightly disappointed with how we lost Khalil Taylor to Nebraska, but we have a freshman on the roster, Amarion Jackson who we got from Nebraska and sounds like he’s going to have just as much impact on the future of the passing game. But we probably got him for peanuts compared to how we’d need to budget for Taylor. I totally get why the staff is hesitant to shell out big money for a 17-year-old who hasn’t proven anything yet. They’ve been so fantastic at identifying talent others miss and sending them to the NFL. And this allows them to have enough NIL available to fill a complete roster with talent all-around.

I think another thing that keeps getting missed is that with the new 5-for-5 rule, we have a BUNCH of guys we initially anticipated this would be their last year returning next year. That’s great because we’ll get a lot of starters and veteran experience back, but we also need to pay them. While it initially looked like we were going to need a big 2027 class to make up for all the departures, that’s not entirely the case now.

Amarion Jackson is getting rave reviews from insiders and sounds like the real deal, but I have become so jaded over the years from the bs preseason reports in the Franklin era that I’ll believe it when I see it in season.

Hitching one's wagon to the reputation of Chase Sowell is rather..... odd.

Last year, between the Media-selected and the Coach-selected squads, there were 13 (THIRTEEN) Big 12 WRs named to either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team all conference units.

Sowell? Was not among them (nor were any other ISU WRs, IIRC) - despite having veteran QB Becht throwing the ball to them.
I mean, if one was being honest: As the team's top WR target, a season of 32 catches and 2 TDs are the kind of production numbers that got PSU WRs of recent vintage "run off" the squad.


Good luck to him - maybe he can double those numbers, and ring up double-digit TDs in 2026 - but that would be the longest of long shots, based on history.

I’m sure Rocco playing with a torn labrum and messed up ac joint in other shoulder for most of the season didn’t help

Franklin always worked overtime to control the narrative. Not sure that MC's thing. I get the impression he doesn't give a crap about what people think he's just going to run his own show.

I agree and it’s certainly not Campbell’s thing, but at times the rave reviews are partially pumped by the 247 and on3 sites filling up dead space in the quiet periods. Again, I hope to God this is true. It would not be the first time that Campbell has found a diamond in the rough like this.

Not "hitching" my wagon to him. Another poster dismissed that we didn't have a QB on the roster who could throw a deep ball. Becht seems to be fairly accurate with his long thows.
