I totally agree. While portal recruiting can save a team I still believe a mix base of talented freshmen and quality upper class mates is the best overall formula. It gives a degree of stability if such a thing exists anymore. We need to get some homegrown talent growing close CH I guess. I was ho;ping Hassell was going to be a Tar Heel.

If the talent is not there, you can't make it there by magic. Pie in the sky does not happen. Why is top tier NC women's basketball prospects behind? We need to get some homegrown talent growing close CH I guess. I was ho;ping Hassell was going to be a Tar Heel.
I agree. If local talent isn’t top 25…move on. We’re not looking for participation credits, we want championships. I do find it odd that HS girls basketball isn’t consistently good in NC. It does seem to go in waves the last being Poole, Rivers, Indy, and the Key sisters. It baffles me that a state like Georgia, similar in population and growth, consistently has great high school teams and players and NC doesn’t.I agree nicheel. If the talent is not in the top 30 from NC why go after them; especially if you are trying to go beyond the sweet sixteen. You have to have at least one WNBA talent on your roster. To answer your question nicheel, I think it comes in cycles. Some of our top talent might be going to some of your power house schools that are out of the state. That is a very good question.
Let Vandy endure the freshman lumps and set the NIL bar. Then we swoop in when she hits the portal in 2028!There was a lot of pressure from within the family for her to attend a school which was close, so the family could watch her play. Since her being from TN , Vanderbilt were the logical choice since the University of TN was not., Let's see how this plays out in a couple of years, whether she is still there. No doubt she was seriously interested in UNC.
