a few random things I thought of while riding in on the train this morning:
- Throw it UP, to D’Runnya in the end zone. We left at least a couple TD’s on the field last year because we didn’t throw it to his high point and the defender was able to break up the pass. I can imagine it would be difficult for a QB to make themselves throw it that high (D’Runnya’s vertical plus his reach (that's really high)), so I hope they’ve addressed this in the offseason. If thrown properly you’d be hard-pressed to find a DB that can defend that. Throw it UP!
- Dak Prescott: in the interest of having you the entire season, consider the three “Get’s”, as prescribed by RG III’s knee doc. The 3 Get’s are “Get down, Get out of bounds, and Get rid of it”. Now, granite, Dak is one of our primary ground-gainers, and this is not the NFL, but he can keep this in mind and not try to crush every-defender that gets within 5 yards.
- Dan Mullen: don’t let your ego influence your game-day decisions. … I know, I know, it’s insulting when OSU says you’re not a physical team, and it’s so tempting to puff your chest out and go for 2, too, right after AU did in the first quarter, but you can’t let these types of things influence your game plan and doing what you KNOW are the strengths of our team. Keep emotions out of your decisions ok?
- Josh Robinson: look forward to seeing you grind it out to get those tough but critical yards between the tackles. We haven’t had anyone since Boobie that could consistently muscle and tough his way to additional yards after contact.
- **3 down conversions**: one of the most-important stats to follow this season. If we can covert our 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] downs we could have a fantastic season. If we can’t keep opposing teams’ offenses off the field then we could struggle, simple as that.
- Dan Mullen: during your on-field interviews, at the half, can you be a little more concise and not blabber? I mean, we’re all know you’re a bit of a goober, but keep your answers short and sweet. .not one giant run-on sentence. "well we had the ball but we fumbled and our defense made a good stop and we tackled them but then we missed the field goal right there, so we had to pass it to get some points before the half. I think we're playing pretty good but gotta stay focused and not get ahead of ourselves so that we can give relentless effort that's what this program's all about developing young men and teaching them hard work we're really pleased how things are going so far and look forward to the second half!!"
- Dan Mullen: if we go on a run you have to manage this team’s emotions; you have to let them chill-out at times (not during the games of course) so that they’re not strung out and we go into Bryant Denny and everyone, including you, does a total spaz-out in the first quarter. This management comes with experience but you should know about this by now.
- Field Goal kicking: no explanation needed. Gotta be there.
- Defense: keep it salty baby
- Scott and Dan: you guys could really use some training and education, by a professional, on public speaking. Things like voice inflection and rhythm and tone. .. really makes a difference. Something to think about, k?
